6/2 Hydraulic Solenoid Valves (24V, 60 l/min) – Precise Two-Position Directional Control Valves

6/2 hydraulic solenoid valves with a nominal flow rate up to 60 l/min and a 24V DC coil control voltage are high-class distribution components designed for precise management of the working fluid flow in power hydraulic systems. As six-way and two-position (6/2) devices, they function as electromagnetic flow dividers, allowing independent control of two actuators (e.g., two double-acting cylinders) using only one section of the main directional control valve. An electrical signal applied to the 24V coil immediately shifts the internal spool, redirecting the oil to the second circuit. This solution eliminates the need for physical expansion of the control valve block with additional mechanical sections, which reduces the total weight of the system, simplifies hose installation, and minimizes the risk of pressure drops. Due to the 24V power standard, these products are primarily dedicated to advanced installations in construction, agricultural, and transport machinery, as well as stationary industrial equipment.

Application and technical characteristics

6/2 solenoid valves with a flow rate up to 60 l/min are optimized for operation in medium-power hydraulic systems subject to high dynamic loads. The monoblock valve body, made of high-strength cast iron or hardened steel, guarantees structural stability and resistance to pressure peaks reaching 210-315 bar at the main ports. The internal control spool undergoes honing and precise micron grinding. This ensures an optimal fit with the body, reduces edge leakage to an absolute minimum, and allows for stable maintenance of the actuator's working position under full load.

These components are fully compatible with mineral hydraulic oils (HL, HLP, HVLP classes) in accordance with the ISO 6743/4 standard. A wide range of permissible working medium temperatures (from -20°C to +80°C) allows for trouble-free operation of machines both in winter conditions and during continuous work in full sun. 24V DC electromagnetic coils, standard mounted with an ISO 4400 (DIN 43650) plug connector, are characterized by a high insulation class and IP65 protection rating, which fully protects the actuator from moisture, dust, and industrial dirt ingress.

Main areas of implementation for 6/2 24V 60 l/min solenoid valves:

  • Construction machinery: Control of the third hydraulic function in mini-excavators, wheel loaders, and telehandlers (e.g., operation of a grapple, bucket tilt, or attachment quick coupler).
  • Agricultural and forestry machinery: Hydraulic systems of tractors, green forage machines, seed drills, and sprayers. These elements are a perfect complement to systems where advanced multi-section hydraulic control valves are installed, requiring remote function duplication.
  • Trucks and specialized vehicles: Switching the power supply of auxiliary circuits in municipal vehicles, car transporters, or smaller loader cranes (HDS).

To prevent the precisely fitted spool from seizing due to solid microparticles, a technical priority in the installation is the assembly of filtering elements. A properly selected hydraulic filter with the appropriate micron rating protects the internal structure of the valve against accelerated wear.

Why choose our components? Technical advantage

All 6/2 24V 60 l/min solenoid valves available in the Hydron range are manufactured with the highest dimensional tolerances, in accordance with European ISO and DIN standards. Threaded connections (most often internal BSP 3/8" or BSP 1/2" threads) are cut according to the ISO 228/1 specification, which eliminates the risk of body stress during installation. To connect the valve to pressure lines and ensure 100% long-term hermeticity of the circuit at pressure surges above 200 bar, it is recommended to use only professional hydraulic fittings equipped with flexible O-ring seals. 24V coils show optimal current-thermal characteristics under continuous electrical load (ED 100%), preventing drops in the magnetic field pull force. The valves also have a built-in pin for manual emergency override, allowing for mechanical shifting of the spool in the event of a power failure.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. What is the difference in power consumption between a 24V and 12V coil in a 6/2 60 l/min valve? From a hydraulic point of view, both valves operate identically. The key difference lies in the electrical parameters. While maintaining the same nominal electromagnet power (expressed in watts), a coil powered by 24V draws half the current (intensity expressed in amperes) than a 12V coil. This limits heat dissipation on the power supply cables and allows for the use of cabling with a smaller cross-section, which is the engineering standard in truck and industrial machinery installations.

2. What happens if the nominal flow of 60 l/min is exceeded? Exceeding the nominal threshold of 60 l/min causes a sharp increase in flow resistance, which generates high energy losses in the form of a pressure drop inside the valve. This drop is converted directly into heat, causing the oil to heat up rapidly, its viscosity to decrease, and accelerated degradation of the seals. Furthermore, very high hydrodynamic forces acting on the spool face can overcome the magnetic field force generated by the 24V coil, preventing full shifting or return of the spool.

3. When is it absolutely necessary to connect an external drain line in a 6/2 solenoid valve? Connecting an external drain (a port that directs leakage from the spool chamber directly to a non-pressurized tank) is technically required if the pressure in the system's return lines exceeds the allowable strength of the spring chamber (standardly above 25-50 bar). A lack of drainage under such conditions will lead to hydraulic locking of the spool, preventing the coil from moving it, and in extreme cases will cause an immediate rupture of the valve's dynamic seals.

4. How to properly connect a 6/2 24V solenoid valve to the machine's main hydraulic system? Two input ports (supply, usually marked as P1/P2 or A/B) of the 6/2 solenoid valve are connected directly via pressure lines to the working outputs of the selected section of the master control valve. The four remaining output ports of the divider (A1/B1 and A2/B2) are led out in pairs to two target actuators. When the 24V coil is not powered, oil flows by default to the first actuator. Applying electrical voltage causes the spool to shift and fully redirect the oil flow to the supply lines of the second actuator.
