Flat-face dry-break quick couplings

"Dry" quick couplings, flat-face quick couplings

Also known as dry-break (flat-face) quick couplings, most commonly used in all types of construction machinery, cranes, and modern agricultural machines. Their advantage is the flat connection surface, which allows for easy cleaning of the quick coupling. Press-to-connect quick couplings. We offer dry-break quick couplings in both plug and socket options. BSP inch fasteners according to the BS 5200 standard. BSP (British Standard Pipe) hydraulic power connectors are based on the inch thread system, widely used in hydraulic systems worldwide.

What are dry-break quick couplings with BSP threads?

Dry-break quick couplings with BSP threads are specialized fasteners designed for safe and clean connection of hydraulic lines without the risk of medium leakage. They are distinguished by a design that allows for quick disconnection of the system without the need to bleed pressure and without loss of working fluid. Thanks to the use of BSP threads – a popular inch thread system in Europe with conical or cylindrical geometry – these quick couplings guarantee high connection tightness and versatility of application.

Quick couplings with British inch threads

This category includes the most popular models of dry-break quick couplings with BSP threads, which are recognized in many industrial sectors. They are characterized by a robust construction made of high-quality zinc-plated or stainless steel, ensuring resistance to corrosion and intensive use. The self-closing mechanism eliminates the problem of leaks during disconnection, and BSP threads guarantee compatibility with many hydraulic systems used in Europe and worldwide. Depending on the model, quick couplings are available in various BSP thread variants.

Application of BSP quick couplings

BSP dry-break quick couplings are widely used in hydraulic power systems where medium cleanliness and fast service time are key. They are perfect for agricultural machinery, construction equipment, forklifts, industrial devices, and wherever disconnecting hoses occurs frequently and must be as safe as possible. Their design minimizes the risk of environmental contamination.

ISO 16028 hydraulic quick couplings

The ISO 16028 standard refers to flat face hydraulic quick couplings, designed to ensure maximum tightness and safety when connecting and disconnecting hydraulic lines. This standard specifies dimensional standards, technical parameters, and compatibility rules that quick couplings must meet to be used in modern hydraulic power systems. The ISO 16028 standard was developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) to unify the dimensions and construction of "flat face" hydraulic connectors. As a result, components from different manufacturers that meet the standard's requirements are fully interchangeable and compatible. This standard covers, among others: external dimensions and tolerances of male and female parts, requirements for operating pressure and tightness, the design of seals and the locking system, safety rules during connecting and disconnecting, requirements for resistance to contamination and wear. The standard applies to quick couplings used in hydraulic systems with operating pressures typically up to 350 bar, where maintaining system cleanliness and connection reliability is crucial.

Construction and operation of ISO 16028 flat-face quick couplings

Connectors made according to the ISO 16028 standard have a characteristic flat-face design, which prevents oil outflow and the entry of contaminants into the system after disconnection. This allows the user to safely connect and disconnect hydraulic hoses even in field conditions or on a construction site. The mechanism of operation is based on a precise system of valves and sealing rings that open only after the two parts of the quick coupling are fully connected. This solution minimizes the risk of oil loss while ensuring full connection tightness under high pressure.

Advantages of ISO 16028 dry (flat face) quick couplings

Connectors complying with ISO 16028 stand out with many advantages that make them commonly used in professional hydraulic systems: leak-free operation – the flat-face design eliminates oil leaks during disconnection, environmental protection – no loss of hydraulic fluid, system cleanliness – reduced risk of dirt or dust entering the installation, ability to work under high pressure, easy cleaning and maintenance, full compatibility between manufacturers – every element compliant with ISO 16028 fits another made according to the same standard. Thanks to their durability and versatility, ISO 16028 quick couplings are currently an industrial standard in hydraulic power.

Application of ISO 16028 quick couplings

Hydraulic quick couplings meeting the requirements of the ISO 16028 standard are widely used in:

  • construction machinery – excavators, loaders, lifts, and dumpers,

  • agricultural machinery – tractors, harvesters, balers, and front loaders,

  • forestry and municipal equipment,

  • industrial and service systems,

  • devices with replaceable hydraulic tools, where fast and tight attachment exchange is required.

Their advantage is the possibility of multiple connecting and disconnecting of hoses without the risk of losing system efficiency.
