Hydraulic power unit
Hydraulic power unit is a complete power assembly designed to generate, regulate, and distribute hydraulic energy in power hydraulic systems. This device converts mechanical energy (most often from an electric motor, internal combustion engine, or another drive source) into the pressure energy of the working fluid, which then powers actuators such as cylinders or hydraulic motors. One could say that the hydraulic power unit serves as the “heart” of the hydraulic system – without it, generating and controlling the flow of hydraulic oil, and thus performing work by machines, would be impossible. The task of the hydraulic power unit is to provide a reliable source of hydraulic energy capable of operating under conditions requiring high forces and precise movement control. You can find a wide range of hydraulic stations in the section ENERPAC pumps
Construction of a hydraulic power unit
A typical hydraulic power unit consists of several basic components that together are responsible for the proper functioning of the entire system. The most important parts include:
Hydraulic oil tank – stores the working fluid while simultaneously allowing for its cooling and filtration.
Hydraulic pump – generates oil flow at the appropriate pressure necessary for the system's operation.
Drive motor – electric, internal combustion, or other, whose task is to drive the pump.
Valve and directional control valve system – is responsible for the oil flow direction, regulating its intensity and pressure.
Hydraulic filters – ensure the cleanliness of the working fluid, protecting the entire system from damage and failure.
Measuring and safety systems – such as pressure gauges, pressure sensors, or safety valves, ensure proper operating parameters and operational safety.
Application of hydraulic power units
Hydraulic power units are widely used in industry and technology. They are used, among others, in:
– construction and road machinery (excavators, bulldozers, rollers),
– production lines and hydraulic presses,
– lifting systems, such as elevators, lifts, or platforms,
– agricultural machinery,
– mining, metallurgical, and shipyard equipment.
Thanks to their versatility, hydraulic power units are an essential element in many industrial sectors where precise and reliable operation of hydraulically driven devices is required.
