Hydraulic spreaders
What are hydraulic spreaders?
Enerpac hydraulic spreaders are specialized tools designed to generate high spreading force in limited workspace. They operate on the principle of a hydraulic cylinder that converts oil pressure into mechanical force, allowing for fast and safe spreading of structural elements, separating jammed parts, or prying structures. These devices are characterized by exceptional precision, compact dimensions, and very high spreading force, which allows for effective work even in difficult terrain or industrial conditions.
Enerpac hydraulic spreaders
Enerpac brand hydraulic spreaders are designed with the highest efficiency and work safety in mind. They stand out with a robust industrial design, resistant to intensive use and harsh environmental conditions. Most models are equipped with rapid piston return systems, ergonomic handles, and overload protection elements. Thanks to their compact dimensions, they are perfect for places with limited access, and a wide selection of models – from manual to those powered by hydraulic power units – allows the device to be matched to the specific needs of the user.
Example applications of hydraulic spreaders
Enerpac hydraulic spreaders are used wherever precise and controlled separation of elements with high mass or bonding force is required. Their application includes:
-
Separating flanges, bearings, bushings, and other jammed elements in machines and steel structures.
-
Prying and aligning structures during assembly or disassembly.
-
Supporting rescue operations when freeing trapped persons in traffic accidents.
-
Service and maintenance work on heavy industrial and mining equipment.
-
Assembly and disassembly operations in hard-to-reach places where conventional equipment cannot be used.
Industries using hydraulic spreaders
Thanks to their versatility and high operating force, hydraulic spreaders are commonly used in many industrial and technical service sectors, including: Energy industry – for installation and service work in power plants and production facilities. Construction and infrastructure – during the assembly of steel and concrete structures. Automotive and transport – for body repairs, removing the effects of collisions, and dismantling structural elements of vehicles. Technical rescue and specialized services – for fast and effective access to jammed spaces. Mining and heavy industry – for dismantling machines and separating tightly fitted components.
Wedge spreader
A wedge spreader is a specialized tool used for disconnecting flange connections in hydraulic, piping, and industrial systems. It is used wherever precise and safe separation of bolted elements is necessary, without the risk of damaging sealing surfaces. The spreader works on the principle of a wedge that is inserted between two flange elements. Depending on the model, the spreading force can be generated mechanically (using a ratchet or a lead screw) or hydraulically – using a pump with a working pressure of up to 700 bar. This design allows for controlled, uniform disconnection of the connection without material stress or deformation.
Construction and operation of a wedge spreader
A wedge spreader consists of two opposing jaws forming a wedge that is inserted into the gap between the connection. When the tool is activated, the jaws move apart, causing the flanges to open. Hydraulic versions are equipped with a cylinder and a high-pressure coupler, allowing for easy connection to a manual or electric pump. Depending on the series, wedge spreaders offer different spreading forces – from about 8 tons in mechanical versions to 14 tons in hydraulic models. The minimum mounting gap is usually around 6 mm, and the maximum jaw spread reaches 80 mm. Thanks to this, these tools perform well in places with limited access.
Application of wedge spreaders
Wedge spreaders are indispensable in the petrochemical, power, and gas industries, as well as in technical services and maintenance. They enable fast and safe disconnection of flanges in pipelines, valves, heat exchangers, and other installation components where ring gaskets are used. They are also used during assembly, maintenance, and testing work.
Advantages of using wedge spreaders
Using this type of tool significantly increases work safety and efficiency. The operator can control the force of action, which eliminates the risk of cracking the flange or scratching sealing surfaces. Wedge spreaders also allow for work in hard-to-reach places, shortening disassembly time and minimizing installation downtime. The wedge spreader is a precise, solid, and safe tool used in professional hydraulic and industrial installations. It is available in mechanical and hydraulic versions, and its ergonomic design and high spreading force make it an essential piece of equipment for every service team dealing with pressure and piping systems.
Hydraulic wedge spreader
A hydraulic wedge spreader is a professional tool that operates based on a hydraulic system (hydraulic pump) and a wedge design. Its task is to spread connections, flanges, or structural elements in situations where access is limited and conventional methods (e.g., hammer, lever) would be ineffective or risky. In practice, the device consists of a wedge or two jaws forming a wedge, which is placed between the elements to be separated. After activating the hydraulic power (pump), a high force is generated — the wedge spreads the elements apart, allowing for their safe separation. Hydraulic drive means the operation requires significantly less effort from the operator, is more controlled, and minimizes the risk of damaging the connection elements.
