M27x2 metric thread – characteristics and application
What is the M27x2 thread?
The M27x2 thread is a precision metric thread with a nominal diameter of 27 mm and a pitch of 2 mm. This means that the distance between consecutive thread turns is 2 millimeters. It is a variant with a so-called large pitch, which ensures a solid mechanical connection while maintaining appropriate strength and tightness in technical applications, especially in power hydraulics.
Characteristics of the M27x2 thread
The M27x2 thread belongs to the group of external and internal metric threads used in precision hydraulic connectors and components. The typical range of control diameters is approx. 26.6–26.9 mm for external thread and 24.6–25.0 mm for internal thread (according to the Hydron thread identification table).
A thread with a 2 mm pitch is more resistant to mechanical wear than fine-thread versions (e.g., M27x1.5), making it particularly suitable for connections exposed to high dynamic loads.
Application of the M27x2 thread
The M27x2 thread is used in:
-
power hydraulics, in high-pressure connectors and adapters,
-
industrial, agricultural and construction machinery,
-
mechanical structures where a strong, stable connection is required,
-
mounting elements, bushings, plugs, fittings and hose ends.
In hydraulics, it often appears in hose ends, nuts and sleeves, as well as in reduction adapters with a transition to smaller sizes, e.g., M27x2 → M22x1.5.
Why use the M27x2 thread in hydraulic systems?
This thread size offers an excellent compromise between flow diameter and connection strength, which translates into the durability of the installation. It is compatible with a wide range of ends and connectors available in the Hydron offer, including components manufactured according to DIN and ISO standards.
