Thermal hose cover - heat-resistant covers with silicone coating

Temperature covers for hoses and lines, cables and ropes

How to protect a hose from high temperatures? Check our anti-temperature covers designed to protect hoses and lines from the destructive effects of high temperatures. Hydraulic hoses, due to the NBR rubber material used, have temperature resistance up to 80 degrees C; higher temperatures will cause hardening and damage to the hoses. To protect the hose from the harmful effects of a heat source, it is worth considering the use of heat-resistant covers.

What are thermal line covers?

Thermal covers, also known as high-temperature covers, are special covers made of materials resistant to high temperatures. Their main task is to protect hydraulic hoses and lines against excessive heating, which can lead to mechanical damage or a decrease in system performance. These covers are often made of fiberglass, ceramic materials, or silicone-coated plastics, which provide both temperature resistance and flexibility.

Heat-resistant covers, braided from fiberglass, coated on the outside with silicone. These types of covers are used where hydraulic lines and hoses are exposed to high temperatures. The covers protect lines from damage and destruction. Temperature resistance during continuous operation  260˚C. We also offer plastic spiral covers and textile covers. High-temperature covers (thermal covers) provide protection against temperature and mechanical damage

Where are thermal line covers used?

Thermal line covers are used in various industries, especially where hydraulic hoses and lines are exposed to high temperatures. Examples of applications include: Automotive industry – in vehicles where lines run close to the engine or exhaust system. Heavy industry – in industrial and construction machinery where hydraulic hoses are exposed to contact with hot surfaces. Energy sector – in turbines and heating installations where extreme thermal conditions occur.

What are the types of thermal line covers?

Thermal covers are available in various variants, tailored to specific needs and working conditions:

  • Silicone covers with fiberglass – flexible and resistant to high temperatures, often used in the automotive and machinery industries.
  • Ceramic covers – highly resistant to extreme temperatures, intended for use in the most demanding environments, such as industrial furnaces.
  • Spiral covers – provide mechanical and thermal protection, especially in places where lines are exposed to mechanical damage and high temperatures.
  • Metal covers – used in installations requiring maximum protection against temperature and mechanical damage.

Why are thermal line covers used?

Thermal line covers are used primarily to protect installations from the negative impact of high temperature. Their use brings many benefits, such as: Increasing the durability of lines – preventing overheating, which can lead to cracks and damage. Protection against failures – covers minimize the risk of leaks and hydraulic damage, which increases system reliability. Workplace safety – lines exposed to extreme temperatures can pose a threat to employees and equipment, and covers reduce this risk. Improving efficiency – protection against heat loss allows for better energy management in systems. Thermal line covers are an essential element in hydraulic and mechanical systems that must meet high temperature requirements. Thanks to them, it is possible to extend the life of the installation and ensure its reliable operation in all conditions.

Silicone coated fiberglass sleeve type FBSB

This fireproof cover is designed to protect hoses, lines, and cables from molten metal splashes, high thermal hazards, and occasional exposure to flames in steel mills, foundries, mining, offshore, aerospace, cutting and welding plants, and wherever hoses, cables, and lines may be exposed to high temperatures. Application of fiberglass cover: Thermal and electrical insulation Heat protection of hoses, pipes, and electrical cables Diameter: from 10 to 125 mm. Material: made of 100% silicone rubber with temperature resistance of +260°C under continuous exposure. Safety data:  -halide-free, does not emit toxic or opaque fumes, if so in trace amounts, does not irritate the skin

Thermal hose – protection of hydraulic hoses against high temperature

A thermal hose is a specialized protective cover designed to protect lines operating in high-temperature environments. In power hydraulics installations, where hydraulic hoses are routed near engines, turbochargers, exhaust manifolds, or other elements generating high temperatures, the use of a thermal cover significantly increases the safety and durability of the entire system. The task of such a cover is to limit the effect of thermal radiation on the rubber or thermoplastic surface of the hydraulic line, as well as protection against metal splashes, sparks, or hot oil. In industrial practice, a thermal hose is most often used as an outer cover mounted on standard hydraulic lines in places particularly exposed to temperatures exceeding the allowable operating parameters of the hose. The high-temperature construction of such covers is usually based on fiberglass or other fire-resistant materials, which may additionally be covered with a protective silicone layer. Thanks to this, the cover not only insulates heat but also protects the lines against mechanical damage and premature aging of the hose rubber. In hydraulic power systems used in construction, agricultural machinery, or industrial installations, the thermal hose plays a very important protective function. High temperature is one of the main factors shortening the life of hydraulic lines. Constant exposure to heat causes degradation of the outer layer of the hose, loss of flexibility, and micro-cracks in the rubber structure. The use of an appropriate cover significantly limits these phenomena, which translates into a longer line service life and a lower risk of hydraulic installation failure. Covers of the red thermal hose type are also used in places where the hydraulic installation may be exposed to direct contact with flames or heated structural elements. Therefore, they are used in smelting, the metallurgical industry, production plants, as well as in specialized vehicles and mobile machines. In many cases, they are also an element required by safety procedures in industrial plants.

In the offer of the Hydron store various types of covers designed to protect hydraulic linesare available, including spiral covers, steel protective springs and specialized high-temperature solutions such as heat-resistant thermal hose. The selection of the appropriate type of cover should take into account the line diameter, the operating conditions of the installation, and the maximum ambient temperature in which the hydraulic system operates. Using thermal covers on hydraulic lines is one of the simplest and most effective ways to increase the reliability of hydraulic power installations. An appropriately selected heat-resistant thermal hose protects the line from overheating, improves work safety, and limits the risk of costly downtime resulting from damage to hydraulic lines.
