RR double-acting solid plunger cylinders

RR series cylinders are the ideal choice when fast plunger retraction and precise control are required. These popular cylinders are durable enough to withstand intensive and demanding job site applications, making them extremely effective in both the construction and manufacturing industries. RR cylinders are available in long-stroke models, allowing for lifting or pushing loads over greater distances, which saves time and minimizes or eliminates the need for temporary cribbing.

Enerpac RR series hydraulic cylinders – 700 bar double-acting high-pressure cylinders

Enerpac RR series hydraulic cylinders (double-acting long-stroke cylinders, Enerpac Double-Acting Cylinders RR Series) are advanced hydraulic power devices designed for the most demanding industrial tasks, where full control over both pushing and pulling forces is essential. The use of double-acting hydraulic operation ensures forced, rapid plunger retraction to the starting position regardless of the load, operating angle, or length of the supply lines used. RR series cylinders operate at a maximum working pressure of 700 bar (70 MPa), offering a very wide capacity range from 10 to 520 metric tons (from 101 kN to 5108 kN during advance) and working strokes ranging from 57 mm to as much as 1219 mm. The massive alloy steel construction with a baked enamel finish, a built-in safety valve on the return side, and numerous mounting threads and holes make Enerpac RR cylinders an indispensable solution for hydraulic presses, infrastructure construction, shipyards, and heavy industry

Application and technical characteristics of Enerpac RR series cylinders

Enerpac RR series double-acting cylinders are used in places requiring high duty cycle repeatability and precise lowering and retraction of components under load. They are dedicated for supply by pumps with four-way control valves

  • Double-acting hydraulic operation: Provides controlled plunger advance and retraction, eliminating the retraction downtime found in spring-return cylinders
  • Extreme capacity up to 520 tons and stroke up to 1219 mm: Allows for the implementation of complex lifting and pulling operations over long distances .
  • Built-in safety valve: Protects the cylinder's return chamber against a dangerous pressure increase in the event of a blocked return line
  • Versatile accessory mounting: Threaded collar threads, plunger threads, and base mounting holes facilitate direct installation in press structures and fixtures
  • Protection against contamination: Built-in plunger wiper protects the cylinder bore from metal chips, dust, and environmental dirt.
  • CR-400 couplers as standard: Ensure fast and safe connection of HC series pressure hoses

Why choose Enerpac RR series cylinders at the HYDRON store?

As an authorized supplier of Enerpac equipment, the HYDRON store guarantees the delivery of 100% original, brand-new RR series cylinders, manufactured according to the strict guidelines of the ASME B30.1 standard. In order to ensure optimal double-acting performance, it is recommended to use high-performance Z-Class electric pumps (e.g., ZU4 / ZE) equipped with 4-way directional valves. To build a complete and safe pressure system, we recommend selecting other compatible products from our offer, such as original Enerpac hydraulic tools and cylinders, high-performance 700 bar hydraulic pumps, flexible high-pressure hydraulic hoses and leak-free 700 bar hydraulic quick couplers

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What are Enerpac RR series hydraulic cylinders used for?

RR series cylinders are used to power industrial presses, for lifting, lowering, pulling, and precise positioning of heavy loads in applications where hydraulic return under load and a long working stroke are required

Why is an internal safety valve used in RR series double-acting cylinders?

The safety valve protects the cylinder return chamber from excessive pressure increase due to incorrect connection of control valves or accidental blocking of the return line

What kind of hydraulic pump does an RR double-acting cylinder require?

RR series double-acting cylinders require supply from a hydraulic pump equipped with a four-way directional control valve (4/3)

How does the RR series differ from the RC series?

The RC series consists of universal single-acting cylinders with spring return [1, 22, 23]. The RR series consists of double-acting cylinders with significantly higher capacities (up to 520t) and longer strokes (up to 1219 mm), where both advance and retraction are performed hydraulically [3-5].
