Description
Semperit COLORFLEX EPDM DN13x4 20 bar hose for air and water
The Semperit COLORFLEX EPDM DN13x4 hose is a flexible industrial hose designed for transporting compressed air, water, and many chemical products approved by the manufacturer. The DN13 variant has an internal diameter of 13 mm, a wall thickness of 4 mm, and an external diameter of 21 mm. The maximum working pressure is 20 bar. Its construction with high-quality EPDM and textile reinforcement ensures good resistance to aging, weather conditions, ozone, abrasion, and kinking.

EPDM hose for air, water, and industrial applications
COLORFLEX is a multi-purpose industrial hose designed primarily for the transmission of air and water. The manufacturer also allows the use of the hose with many chemical products in industry and agriculture; however, before use with a specific medium, its compatibility should be checked in the current Semperit chemical resistance table.
Thanks to its universal construction, the hose can be used in workshop, industrial, agricultural, and service installations, as well as in devices utilizing flexible hoses for the transport of air or water.
EPDM resistance to weather conditions and ozone
High-quality EPDM was used for the production of the COLORFLEX hose. This material provides very good resistance to aging, ozone, and weather conditions. This is particularly important in installations operating outdoors or in places exposed to temperature changes and contact with moisture.
The manufacturer also indicates good abrasion resistance of the hose. The textile reinforcement increases structural stability and limits the hose's susceptibility to kinking during operation.
Two textile inserts and an 80 mm bending radius
The DN13 variant has two reinforcing inserts in the form of a textile spiral. This construction allows the hose to maintain flexibility while maintaining a maximum working pressure of 20 bar.
The minimum bending radius is 80 mm. During installation, avoid routing the hose in a curve smaller than the value specified by the manufacturer. Excessive bending can shorten the hose's life, reduce its working cross-section, and increase the load on the structure.
Temperature range from -40°C to +120°C, important limitation
Semperit specifies the operating temperature range for COLORFLEX as -40°C to +120°C. However, the value of +120°C does not mean that the hose can operate without limitations with a medium of this temperature in every system.
In closed installations, the maximum temperature of the transported medium is +100°C. The manufacturer indicates that the hose should not be used in constantly pressurized closed systems at temperatures above +100°C.
It should also be remembered that temperature changes can affect the permissible working pressure, burst pressure, and the ability to maintain fittings. For high-temperature applications, the operating conditions of the entire hose assembly should be verified in each case.
Electrically conductive inner layer
The inner layer of the hose is made of black, smooth, and electrically conductive EPDM. This construction limits the possibility of static charge accumulation. The manufacturer specifies a resistance below 106 Ω according to EN ISO 8031:2009.
This property is important in many industrial applications where static charges may be generated during medium flow. However, this does not exempt from the necessity of correctly designing the entire installation and using appropriate fittings and connections.
How to choose a COLORFLEX DN13 hose?
Before purchasing, check primarily the required internal diameter, maximum working pressure, medium temperature, and its compatibility with EPDM. In this variant, the internal diameter is 13 mm, which is 1/2", and the working pressure is maximum 20 bar.
If the hose is to transport a substance other than air or water, check the current Semperit chemical resistance table. The mere fact that COLORFLEX is a multi-purpose hose does not automatically mean resistance to every chemical medium.
Most common selection errors
One of the most common mistakes is choosing a hose based solely on diameter. Pressure, temperature, medium type, and minimum bending radius must also be considered. In high-temperature installations, the +100°C limit for the medium in constantly operating closed pressure systems is particularly important.
Do not exceed the minimum bending radius or use fittings that do not match the diameter and construction of the hose. Improper crimping or fastening can reduce the safety of the entire assembly.
Why Semperit COLORFLEX?
COLORFLEX combines high flexibility with 20 bar working pressure and a wide temperature range. EPDM provides high resistance to ozone and weather conditions, while textile reinforcement increases resistance to kinking. These properties make the hose a good solution for many industrial, workshop, and agricultural applications.
Frequently asked questions
What is the working pressure of Semperit COLORFLEX DN13?
The maximum working pressure for the DN13 variant is 20 bar.
What is the diameter of the DN13 hose?
The internal diameter is 13 mm, or 1/2". The wall thickness is 4 mm, and the external diameter is 21 mm.
Can COLORFLEX work at +120°C?
The manufacturer specifies the temperature range up to +120°C; however, in closed systems, the maximum temperature of the medium is +100°C. The hose should not operate constantly under pressure in a closed installation at temperatures above +100°C.
Is the hose suitable for chemical substances?
The manufacturer allows the transport of many chemical products, but the specific medium should always be checked in the current Semperit chemical resistance table.
Is the hose resistant to ozone and weather conditions?
Yes. The high-quality EPDM used in the COLORFLEX series provides very good resistance to ozone, aging, and weather conditions.
