Description
Blanking plug / threaded plastic cap Male 1.1/4" BSP
The plastic threaded blanking plug Male 1.1/4" BSP is a protective cap with an external inch pipe thread, designed for temporary closing of holes and connections equipped with a compatible internal BSP 1 1/4" thread. The product helps protect hydraulic lines, manifolds, cylinders, and other components from dust, dirt, and contamination during transport, storage, repair, and assembly.
The plug is made of plastic. Its task is to temporarily secure an open connection against dirt, especially in situations where the line or device remains disconnected from the system. The product is useful in hydraulic power workshops, industrial plants, and during machine servicing.
Important: the plastic blanking plug Male 1.1/4" BSP does not bear pressure loads. It must not be used to close hydraulic systems operating under pressure.
Color information: the product is available in various colors, packed and shipped randomly. The color of the delivered plug may differ from the one shown in the photo.

Application of the BSP 1 1/4" protective plug in power hydraulics
The plastic threaded cap Male 1 1/4" BSP is intended for temporary securing of threaded holes in hydraulic components. It can be used during line replacement, device repairs, machine maintenance, and preparing parts for transport or storage.
Example applications include compatible connections for hydraulic manifolds, cylinders, line ends, and other elements equipped with the appropriate internal BSP thread. The blanking plug reduces the risk of dust and small contaminants entering the components before the final connection is made.
External thread BSP 1 1/4" – dimensions and identification
The designation 1 1/4" BSP refers to the nominal size of the inch pipe thread. For cylindrical threads, the designation G 1 1/4 is used. The standard external diameter of this thread is approximately 41.91 mm, and the number of threads is 11 per inch.
Please note that the nominal size of 1 1/4" does not mean an actual thread diameter of 31.75 mm. A caliper and an inch thread gauge can be used to identify the connection. Before installation, confirm the type, diameter, and pitch of the thread of the hole being secured.
Protection of hydraulic connections against contamination
During repair and disassembly of hydraulic systems, open lines and connections are exposed to contact with dust, sand, metal shavings, and other contaminants. Using a plastic BSP 1 1/4" blanking plug allows for temporary closing of a compatible hole, helping to limit the access of dirt to its interior.
Maintaining the cleanliness of components is of particular importance in power hydraulics, where contamination can accelerate the wear of valves, manifolds, and other precision elements. The protective plug is a simple solution used during daily service work.
BSP 1 1/4" blanking plug during transport and storage
The plastic cap with an external BSP 1 1/4" thread can be used to secure hydraulic parts intended for storage or transport. Closing the threaded hole helps limit the contact of its interior with contaminants in the environment.
The product is useful both for shipping spare parts and during temporary storage of components in the workshop. Before reconnecting the device, the blanking plug must be removed and the proper hydraulic connection made.
Plastic protective blanking plug vs. pressure plug
The blanking plug Male 1 1/4" BSP is a protective element intended for temporary securing of connections. It is not designed to maintain hydraulic oil pressure and cannot replace a pressure plug during system operation.
If a connection is to be permanently closed in a system operating under pressure, a suitable hydraulic plug with confirmed strength parameters and the correct sealing method must be selected. Just a compatible BSP thread size does not mean both types of blanking plugs are interchangeable.
Differences between BSP and NPT threads
BSP and NPT threads belong to different pipe thread systems. Standard BSP thread has a 55° profile angle, while NPT thread has a 60° profile. Additionally, G BSP thread is cylindrical, and NPT has a tapered design.
The plastic blanking plug G 1 1/4 BSP should not be treated as a replacement for an NPT 1 1/4 plug. Before purchasing, determine the thread system used in the connection being secured.
How to choose a plastic cap Male 1 1/4" BSP?
Before purchasing, ensure that the hole being secured has a compatible internal BSP 1 1/4" thread. For standard cylindrical G 1 1/4 thread, the external diameter is approximately 41.91 mm, and the pitch corresponds to 11 threads per inch.
The thread condition, available installation space, and intended use of the blanking plug should also be checked. The product is suitable for temporary protection of connections against dirt, but not for operation under pressure.
Installation and removal of the plastic cap BSP 1 1/4"
Before installation, turn off the device and safely depressurize the hydraulic system. Then, clean the threaded hole and check the compatibility of the internal thread with the blanking plug.
The cap should be screwed in carefully, without using excessive force. In case of noticeable resistance, stop installation and re-check thread compatibility. Before starting the system, the blanking plug must be removed and replaced with the proper connection element.
Various colors – random packing
Plastic blanking plugs Male 1 1/4" BSP are available in different color variants. Individual colors are packed randomly, so the delivered blanking plug may have a different color than the product shown in the photograph.
The basic selection criterion is the compatibility of the thread type and size and the protective purpose of the product. Color does not affect the ability to fit the cap to a compatible connection.
