Polyamide hose PA6 TEKALAN 5x3 mm black 27 bar

The TEKALAN 5x3 mm polyamide hose is a calibrated tube made of PA6 polyamide, designed primarily for pneumatic installations with compressed air. The 5 mm outer diameter and 3 mm inner diameter allow it to be used with appropriately selected push-in fittings and fittings for tekalan tubes.

The hose operates at pressures up to 27 bar and maintains its functional properties at temperatures from -40°C to +80°C. PA6 polyamide provides good mechanical resistance, stiffness, and resistance to crushing and abrasion, which is why the hose performs well not only in pneumatics but also in selected technical installations and fuel systems.

  • size: 5x3 mm,
  • nominal internal diameter: DN03,
  • working pressure: 27 bar,
  • burst pressure: 80 bar,
  • operating temperature range: from -40°C to +80°C,
  • construction: unreinforced hose,
  • color: black,
  • intended use: air, water and light chemicals,
  • connection method: push-in fittings or appropriate TEKALAN fittings,
  • product code: HF/PA6/BK/5X3,
  • EAN: 0200000031800.

What does the 5x3 mm dimension mean?

In the designation of pneumatic hoses, the first value specifies the outer diameter, while the second specifies the inner diameter of the hose.

Parameter Value
Outer diameter 5 mm
Inner diameter 3 mm
Wall thickness 1 mm

When selecting a push-in fitting or fitting, the most important is the outer diameter of 5 mm. The connection element must be intended specifically for the TEKALAN Ø5 mm hose.

PA6 polyamide in pneumatic hoses

PA6 is a technical polyamide characterized by good mechanical strength and resistance to abrasion and crushing. Compared to very soft polyurethane hoses, the polyamide hose is stiffer, which makes it maintain its shape well during installation.

The material works well in stationary and machine installations where the hose should be lightweight, mechanically resistant, and easy to route between pneumatic elements.

27 bar working pressure

The allowable working pressure of the hose is 27 bar. This is a value significantly higher than the typical pressures of many pneumatic installations, which often operate in the range of a few bars.

The burst pressure is 80 bar, however, this value should not be treated as the allowable working pressure. During operation, the 27 bar parameter and the allowable values of all other system components must be observed.

Temperature range from -40°C to +80°C

The hose can operate at temperatures from -40°C to +80°C. The wide range allows it to be used both inside machines and production halls, as well as in many installations operating at reduced temperatures.

Operating temperature affects the properties of the material and the allowable load of the hose, therefore at extreme temperatures, the actual operating conditions of the entire installation should always be taken into account.

For compressed air and other media

The primary application of the TEKALAN 5x3 hose is the transfer of compressed air in pneumatic installations. The product data sheet also permits water and light chemicals.

  • compressed air,
  • water,
  • light chemicals compatible with PA6,
  • selected fuel systems,
  • selected technical installations.

In the case of an unusual medium, its chemical compatibility with PA6 polyamide should be checked before use.

TEKALAN 5 mm vs 3 mm internal diameter

In workshop practice, the hose is often referred to shorthand as TEKALAN 5, because the outer diameter is key when selecting push-in fittings. However, the full technical designation of this variant is 5x3 mm.

It should not be confused with a hose with an internal diameter of 5 mm. In this product, 5 mm means the external dimension, while the hose bore is 3 mm.

Installation on push-in fittings

The calibrated outer diameter allows the hose to be used with appropriately selected pneumatic push-in fittings intended for Ø5 mm tubing. Assembly of such a connection is fast and does not require crimping the hose.

The end of the hose should be cut evenly, perpendicular to the axis, and then pushed fully into the push-in fitting mechanism. An uneven or deformed edge may impair the tightness of the connection.

Installation using a tekalan fitting

An alternative to the push-in fitting is the classic TEKALAN fitting consisting of a nut, a compression ring, and a reinforcement sleeve. For a hose with an outer diameter of 5 mm, a fitting designed exactly for this size should be selected.

The sleeve stabilizes the hose wall from the inside, while the compression ring is responsible for the mechanical fastening of the tube after the nut is tightened.

Where is the PA6 5x3 hose used?

  • machine pneumatic systems,
  • industrial automation,
  • compressed air control systems,
  • vehicle pneumatics,
  • workshop air installations,
  • selected central lubrication systems,
  • selected fuel and technical installations.

Polyamide or polyurethane?

Polyamide and polyurethane hoses can come in the same diameters but have different mechanical characteristics. PA6 polyamide is stiffer and works well in installations requiring stable hose routing.

Polyurethane is usually more flexible and better suited for places where the hose makes frequent movements. The material should therefore be selected not only by diameter but also by the way the installation works.

How to correctly select a TEKALAN hose?

  1. check the required outer diameter of the hose,
  2. confirm the inner diameter needed for the required flow,
  3. verify the maximum installation pressure,
  4. check the operating temperature,
  5. confirm the compatibility of the PA6 material with the medium,
  6. select a push-in fitting or fitting exactly for the 5 mm outer diameter.

Most common selection errors

  • confusing the 5 mm outer diameter with the inner diameter,
  • selecting a push-in fitting for 4 or 6 mm hoses,
  • using the hose above 27 bar,
  • ignoring the temperature range from -40°C to +80°C,
  • using a medium incompatible with PA6,
  • crooked cutting of the tip before inserting into the push-in fitting.
