Description

Hydraulic hose for railway applications DN06 1SN 225 bar (EN 45545-2)

Specialized hydraulic hose for railway applications DN06 1SN with a working pressure of 225 bar is a flexible pressure hose with a single steel braid, designed for the rigorous requirements of railway transport and rolling stock. The hose meets the European fire protection standard EN 45545-2, which qualifies it for use in locomotives, passenger cars, multiple units, as well as trams and track machines. The outer cover made of flame-retardant, self-extinguishing synthetic rubber is characterized by very low emission of smoke and toxic gases in case of fire. The hose is intended for leak-free transport of mineral and synthetic oils, hydraulic fluids, water-glycol solutions, water, and compressed air in drive, control, and auxiliary installations.

Application, construction and advantages of the DN06 1SN railway hose

In rail vehicle installations, flexible pressure connections are subjected to vibrations, temperature changes, and atmospheric influences. The DN06 1SN 225 bar railway hose combines mechanical strength with the fire requirements of the railway industry.

  • EN 45545-2 fire certification: The outer synthetic rubber meets requirements for flammability and low exhaust toxicity (HL1, HL2, HL3 levels).
  • Compliance with hydraulic standards: Manufactured according to EN 853 1SN and SAE 100 R1AT standards, allowing use with standard crimped fittings.
  • Single-braid steel construction: Reinforcement with a single high-strength steel braid ensures flexibility and a small bending radius at a working pressure of 225 bar.
  • Wide operating temperature range: From -40°C to +100°C (intermittently up to +125°C), enabling stable operation in winter conditions and with hot oil.
  • Environmental resistance: The rubber cover is resistant to abrasion, ozone, UV radiation, petroleum-based fluids, and atmospheric factors.

What to connect the DN06 1SN railway hose with and how to avoid assembly errors?

Hydraulic hose for railway applications DN06 1SN (internal diameter 1/4" – approx. 6.4 mm) works with standard power hydraulics fittings:

  • Hose crimp fittings: Standard metric fittings (DKOL/DKOS, CEL/CES), inch BSP (DKR, AGR), JIC and ORFS sealed with T20 or T21 DN06 (1/4") crimp ferrules.
  • Working media: Petroleum-based hydraulic oils, synthetic esters, cooling liquids (glycol), water, and compressed air.

When selecting and installing railway hoses, the required working pressure of the system should be carefully verified. For the DN06 (1/4") diameter, the 1SN version offers a working pressure of 225 bar with a 4:1 safety factor (burst pressure is min. 900 bar). If the system requires higher pressure (e.g., up to 400 bar), the double-braid 2SN version should be used. Correct ferrule crimping on the crimper depends on the crimping table provided by the fitting and hose manufacturer.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What does the EN 45545-2 standard mean for a hydraulic hose?

The EN 45545-2 standard specifies the fire property requirements for materials used in rail vehicles. A hose meeting this standard has a flame-retardant outer cover that limits the spread of fire and emits a small amount of smoke and toxic gases.

Do standard fittings and ferrules fit the DN06 1SN railway hose?

Yes, the geometric dimensions of the 1SN hose compliant with the EN 45545-2 standard correspond to standard EN 853 norms. Common hydraulic fittings and T20 or T21 DN06 crimp ferrules are used for crimping.

What working pressure does the DN06 1SN hose have?

For the DN06 (1/4") nominal diameter, the permissible working pressure is 225 bar, and the burst pressure is 900 bar.

What media can flow in the railway hose?

The hose is suitable for transporting mineral and synthetic oils, glycol, water, liquid fuel, and compressed air.
