Plastic screw-in cap male thread M52x2 is a protective plug with a metric external thread, designed for temporary protection of holes and connections with M52x2 internal thread. The product protects the interior of hydraulic components from dust, grit, dirt and accidental ingress of contaminants during transport, storage, assembly and service work.

The plug is made of plastic, making it a lightweight and practical protection for threaded connections. It can be used for temporary closing of compatible holes in directional valves, cylinders and other power hydraulics components. The M52x2 thread allows the cap to be screwed into a suitably matched hole.

Important: the cap is protective in nature and does not carry pressure loads. It is not intended for closing hydraulic installations during operation under pressure.

Use of M52x2 protective plug in power hydraulics

The M52x2 plastic screw-in plug is intended for temporary closing of threaded holes in hydraulic parts. It is used during storage, transport, preparation of components for assembly, and maintenance and repair work.

It can be used to protect compatible inlets and outlets of directional valves, cylinder connections and other elements with an internal M52x2 thread. The cap reduces the risk of contaminants entering the components before they are reconnected to the system.

External thread M52x2 – dimensions and identification

The M52x2 designation stands for a metric thread with a nominal diameter of 52 mm and a pitch of 2 mm. The HYDRON product data sheet specifies the external thread diameter from 51.6 to 51.9 mm and the internal diameter from 49.4 to 49.6 mm.

When selecting, check both the diameter and the thread pitch. A caliper and a metric thread pitch gauge can be used for identification. Do not equate the M52x2 plug with an M52 cap with a different thread pitch, as these elements do not necessarily fit together.

Protection of connections during transport and storage

During transport and storage, hydraulic components can be exposed to dust, grit, fine shavings and other contaminants. The M52x2 plastic cap allows temporary closing of a suitably matched hole, helping to protect the interior of the component from dirt.

Such protection is particularly useful when hydraulic lines and devices are stored before assembly or have been temporarily disconnected during machine repair. However, the protective plug is not a substitute for a working plug designed to hold pressure.

Plastic – lightweight thread cap

The M52x2 plastic cap is used to protect the thread and the interior of the connection from dirt. It is not an element intended for maintaining hydraulic oil pressure or for permanent closure of an operating power hydraulics system.

If a hole is to be closed during normal operation of the system under pressure, a suitably selected hydraulic plug with confirmed strength, construction and sealing method must be used. The compatibility of the M52x2 thread itself does not mean that a plastic cap can replace a metal pressure plug.

How to choose an M52x2 plastic male thread plug?

Before purchasing, ensure that the hole to be protected has an M52x2 internal metric thread. It is worth checking the hole diameter, thread pitch and its technical condition. The cap should screw in without excessive resistance and without risk of damaging the thread.

The purpose of the protection should also be determined. The plug is the right solution for temporary protection of the connection during storage, transport and servicing, but not for operating the system under pressure.

Installation and removal of the M52x2 plastic cap

Before installation, ensure that the system is turned off and safely depressurized. Then, the threaded hole must be cleaned and checked for any damage or contaminants that make it difficult to screw in the plug.

The cap should be screwed in carefully, without using excessive force. Improper thread fit or tightening too hard can lead to damage to the plastic element. Before starting the device, remove the protective cap and make the final hydraulic connection.
