Hydraulic plugs and caps for sealing -plugs for power hydraulics

Plugs and caps with internal and external threads

In our offer you will find all kinds of hydraulic plugs, hydraulic caps for sealing threads used in broadly defined hydraulics. Plugs are used to seal threads to prevent the flow of working fluid. Sometimes plugs are used temporarily during the replacement of a damaged hose and sometimes permanently (sealing an additional unused opening in a hydraulic installation). There is a basic division into 2 types of plugs: plugs with external and internal threads, and a division into plugs with a socket and plugs without a socket (flat). Flat plugs are used for sealing threads in control valves, pumps, etc.

Hydraulic plug

A hydraulic plug is a component used in hydraulic systems to close openings or protect the threaded ends of hoses, pipes, and hydraulic components. The plug serves a protective function, preventing working fluid leaks and protecting the interior of the system from contaminants such as dust, dirt, or moisture. Hydraulic plugs come in various versions, adapted to the type of thread (e.g., metric, inch, NPT).

Threaded cap

A threaded cap is a similar component used in hydraulics that is mounted on threaded openings or the ends of hoses, pipes, or fittings. Its main purpose is the permanent or temporary closure of an opening in a hydraulic system. Threaded caps can be made of various materials, such as steel, brass, aluminum, or plastics, allowing them to be adapted to specific operating conditions, such as high pressures or temperatures.

Threaded plug

What is a threaded plug? A threaded plug is a hydraulic element used for closing openings in power hydraulic systems, such as control valves, pumps, or hydraulic lines. A threaded plug has on one side a thread, which enables leak-tight installation in an opening, and on the other side, it is equipped with a hexagon for a wrench or an Allen socket, which facilitates assembly and disassembly. Construction of a threaded plug: Thread: The plug can have various types of threads, such as metric, BSP inch, JIC UNF, or ORFS, which are matched to the standards used in power hydraulics. Termination: Hexagon for a wrench: Allows for easy tightening or loosening of the plug using a wrench. Allen socket: An alternative solution for applications where access to the plug is limited. Sealing: The plug can be equipped with a gasket that further protects against leaks. Alternatively, some plugs have a conical end that ensures tightness without the need for additional gaskets. Construction and materials: The plug is most often made of durable materials such as stainless steel or carbon steel.

Application of threaded plugs in power hydraulics

Threaded plugs are used for: Sealing threaded openings in hydraulic components such as control valves, pumps, or cylinders. Securing the ends of hydraulic hoses, especially in the case of temporary disconnection from the circuit. Protecting hydraulic systems from contaminants such as dust, dirt, or moisture - plastic plugs for hose ends are mainly used to protect against dirt and dust. Advantages of threaded plugs: They ensure tightness in the hydraulic system; They protect against damage and contaminants; Available in various thread standards and construction variants, so they can be easily adapted to any system.

Types of threaded plugs and caps:

  • inch plugs: plugs with BSP threads (e.g., 1/4" 3/8", 1/2")
  • metric plugs: with metric threads (e.g., M12, M14, M16, M18, M22, M26, etc.)
  • UNF plugs: plugs with UNF, JIC threads
  • ORFS plugs: plugs with American ORFS AOPRFS threads
  • Allen plugs: equipped with a thread and an Allen socket.
  • wrench plug: has a thread and a hexagon for a wrench.
  • plug with a cone: used for sealing the ends of hydraulic hoses.
  • plugs with a gasket
Threaded plugs are essential components in power hydraulics. Their variety – from metric to inch threads, hexagonal ends to Allen sockets – allows for their versatile use. In the Hydron offer, you will find a wide selection of plugs adapted to various needs, guaranteeing durability and tightness.

Plugs and caps for hydraulic hoses and lines

Plugs for hydraulic hoses are specialized components used in power hydraulic systems to seal hydraulic lines terminated with internal or external threads. They are indispensable for temporarily disconnecting lines from the circuit or protecting the system against contaminants. Types of plugs for hydraulic hoses: The offer includes plugs in various versions that can be adapted to specific applications: Plugs with internal thread: Ideal for sealing ends with an external thread (ET). Example: CEL plug. Plugs with external thread: Designed for sealing ends with an internal thread (IT). Example: AGR plug. Hose plugs are available in versions with internal or external threads, which allows for wide application. The plugs fit hydraulic lines terminated with metric, BSP inch, JIC threads or ORFS threads. Made of durable materials that ensure resistance to high pressures and mechanical damage.

Sealing hydraulic lines: Plugs are used to close the ends of hydraulic hoses with various threads – both internal and external. Protection against contaminants: They provide protection against dust, dirt, and moisture, which can affect system performance. Maintaining system tightness: Plugs prevent hydraulic fluid leaks during maintenance, transport, or disassembly. Plugs for hydraulic hoses are practical and essential elements in hydraulic systems. Whether you need to seal lines with external or internal threads, the wide range of plugs available at Hydron will meet your expectations.

Hydraulic plug cap

A hydraulic plug, also known as hydraulic cap, is an element used in power hydraulic systems to close and protect threads from contaminants, leaks, and mechanical damage. It is a key component that ensures the tightness of the system and protects its components from external factors. Types of hydraulic plugs and caps: External thread plugs – designed for sealing internal threads, e.g., in hydraulic fittings, nipples, and quick coupling sockets. Internal thread caps – used for closing external threads, e.g., on the ends of hydraulic lines, hoses, or tees.

Application of hydraulic plugs and caps

Thanks to various threads and construction, plugs and caps are compatible with many types of connections used in power hydraulics, including metric, inch (BSP, NPT, UNF), and other standards used in high-pressure systems. ✅ Temporary or permanent sealing of openings in the hydraulic system – allowing for system maintenance and modification without the risk of contamination. ✅ Preventing hydraulic oil leaks – ensuring installation tightness in places that are not currently in use. ✅ Protecting threads from damage and corrosion – minimizing the risk of deformation, which increases the durability of system components. ✅ Safety of transport and storage of components – plugs and caps are also used to protect new parts from dirt in the warehouse or during transport.
