Manual hose skiver 2" (economical) S51M
Manual skiver for cutting hydraulic hoses. The device enables skiving, i.e., paring the outer surface of hydraulic hoses. Hose skiving is required when crimping hoses for high pressures (multi-braid hoses 4SP, 4SH). The skiver enables external and internal paring of the hose surface.
The set includes special mandrels for external skiving from 1/4" to 2". It is possible to purchase additional skiving mandrels designed for internal skiving (intended for 4SH INTERLOCK fittings) in sizes from DN16 (5/8") to DN50 (2").
Hydraulic hoses are skived down to the steel braid. Why skive hoses? We skive hoses to better secure the fitting against slipping out of the hose. A ferrule crimped directly onto the braid better "holds" the hose fitting, and thus the connection between the fitting and the hose is more stable and reliable. A skiver useful in every hose crimping shop.
Manual skiver operation:
- Place the skiver in a vise
- Install the skiving pin (depending on the hose size)
- Place the hose to be skived onto the pin
- Change the position of the skiver blade with an Allen key
- Hold the hose and turn the skiver handle
