VUBA hose burst valves

Shut-off valve for hydraulic hose rupture.

Safety valves protecting the cylinder from falling. Hose burst valves (VUBA valves and inserts for them) are safety valves. These elements prevent the sudden falling of the cylinder after breaking, cutting, or damaging the hydraulic hose. The valves are mounted as close to the cylinder as possible. During normal operation, hydraulic oil flows freely. In case of damage (hose rupture), the oil flow rate increases and the valve closes the oil outlet from the cylinder - preventing the cylinder from falling. A complete valve consists of a sleeve and a valve that is screwed into the sleeve.

Why are VUBA valves important?

Hose burst valves are a key safety element in hydraulic systems. Their task is to eliminate the risk resulting from hose failure, which in practice protects both machines and operators. Choosing the right valve, such as the VUBA model, ensures reliability and protection in the most demanding work environments.

What are hose burst valves?

Hose burst valves, also known as “parachute” safety valves, were designed to protect hydraulic systems against the effects of a rupture of a hydraulic hose. In case of a sudden increase in flow, the valve automatically closes the flow, preventing uncontrolled movement of the hydraulic cylinder or loss of pressure in the system.

Characteristics and construction of the VUBA valve

These valves are made of high-quality steel with a blackened finish, which ensures durability and resistance to damage. Thanks to the possibility of flow adjustment (e.g., flow-slowing orifices when the valve is closed), they are ideal for applications requiring precision and safety. Available in various thread sizes, from G1/4” to G1”.

Application of hose burst valves

Where are hose burst valves used? These valves are an essential element in hydraulic systems where work safety is key, e.g., in construction, industrial, or agricultural machinery. They protect cylinders from uncontrolled loss of position, which is particularly important in the case of cranes, hoists, or work platforms. Application example : Agricultural trailers: In the event of a hose rupture while lifting the trailer, the valve blocks the oil flow, preventing uncontrolled lowering of the load box. Cranes and hoists: Protects people and loads from falling in an emergency situation, maintaining the safe operation of the hydraulic system. Hydron offers a wide range of VUBA hose burst valves, which are characterized by reliability, precise operation, and the ability to adapt parameters to individual needs. How does a hose burst valve work?

Normal operation of a hose burst valve

Under standard conditions, the hose burst valve allows free flow of hydraulic fluid between the pump and the cylinder. It operates without interference, ensuring proper supply to the hydraulic system. The construction of the valve is adapted to maintain full fluid flow at normal operating pressure, which guarantees smooth operation of machines and devices.

Operation in case of hose failure

When a hydraulic hose is damaged, the fluid flow increases rapidly, which causes the valve to activate. A special mechanism reacts to this excessive flow (so-called flow reaction) and automatically closes the hydraulic fluid flow. Thanks to this, the cylinder is blocked in its current position, which prevents uncontrolled lowering, movement, or damage to equipment.
