Description

TWIN thermoplastic hose R8 DN06 362 bar – hydraulic twin hose

The TWIN R8 DN06 362 bar thermoplastic hose is a dual high-pressure line designed for power hydraulic systems requiring parallel routing of two oil lines. The twin design consists of two joined lines with a nominal diameter of DN06 (1/4"), each forming an independent flow channel. The working pressure is 362 bar. The use of aramid reinforcement in the R8 design allows for high strength with a low hose weight. The TWIN hose is particularly useful in machines with moving hydraulic units where orderly connection routing and limited assembly space are important.

Application of twin hoses in power hydraulics

The TWIN R8 DN06 thermoplastic hose is designed for making flexible connections in machines requiring two independent hydraulic lines. The joined construction allows both lines to be routed together, which facilitates installation planning and reduces the need for separate mounting elements.

Twin hoses are used, among others, in hydraulic lifts, aerial work platforms, forklifts, industrial equipment and construction machinery. They can be used to service double-acting cylinders where two independent working connections are needed. Selection should take into account pressure, system capacity and machine operating conditions.

The nominal diameter DN06 corresponds to the size 1/4" and applies to each of the two cores. When designing the system, the flow rate and pressure losses should be considered separately for each channel. Two connected lines do not form a single channel with a double cross-section.

TWIN construction – two lines connected in parallel

The TWIN construction allows two hydraulic lines to be routed as one assembly. Both cores remain connected along the length of the hose, which helps maintain their relative position during assembly and operation. This solution is particularly useful in installations with moving masts, arms and booms.

Compared to routing two separate hoses, the twin design facilitates the organization of the line path. However, the total dimensions of the combined hose, its required bending radius and the method of mounting to the machine structure must be taken into account.

Aramid reinforcement and R8 thermoplastic construction

Thermoplastic designs from the R8 family use high-strength aramid reinforcement. Aramid fibers allow for carrying pressure loads without the need for traditional steel braiding. Thanks to this, hoses of this type can be characterized by low weight and compact construction.

The thermoplastic polyester core forms the medium flow channel, and the polyurethane outer cover protects the line against mechanical factors. Polyurethane is characterized by abrasion resistance, which is important in installations exposed to contact with machine parts. This does not, however, eliminate the need for proper routing and protection of the lines.

Working pressure 362 bar

The TWIN R8 DN06 hose is designed for operation at working pressures up to 362 bar. This value refers to the hose parameters and does not automatically mean the allowable pressure of the complete hydraulic assembly. During assembly, the nominal pressure of all fittings and other connection elements must be taken into account.

In installations with dynamic pressure changes, the operating conditions of the receiver, possible pressure spikes and the machine manufacturer's requirements should be considered. A properly selected line should provide an appropriate parameter reserve relative to the actual system loads.

Operating temperature and medium selection

For the HYDRON family of thermoplastic twin hoses, an operating temperature range of -40°C to +100°C is provided. When selecting a hose, the type of working medium, hydraulic oil temperature and permissible operating parameters of the entire system should be taken into account.

In the case of water-based hydraulic fluids, compressed air or other media, material compatibility and permissible operating conditions must be additionally confirmed. Not all media can be used in the full temperature range provided for hydraulic oil.

Routing and securing twin hoses

When installing the TWIN hose, the proper path of both cores must be maintained and twisting the hose around its own axis must be avoided. The hose should not be bent below the minimum bending radius specified for the specific design. Proper placement of mountings is also important, especially in machines equipped with moving working units.

In areas exposed to intense friction or contact with sharp edges, additional spiral guards for hydraulic hosescan be used. The guard should be selected for the dimensions of the joined TWIN construction and the line movement conditions.

Crimping fittings for R8 thermoplastic hose

The TWIN R8 DN06 hose can be used to prepare a finished hydraulic line assembly with separate ends for both cores. The fittings and crimp ferrules must be compatible with the thermoplastic construction and appropriately selected for the actual dimensions of the line.

At the fitting assembly points, it may be necessary to separate both lines for a specified length. The operation should be performed without damaging the reinforcing and protective layers. Crimping parameters should correspond to the specific set of hose, ferrule and hydraulic fitting.

Crimping parameters intended for rubber hydraulic hoses should not be used automatically. HYDRON also offers custom-made crimped hydraulic hoses, made with appropriately selected assembly components.

TWIN R8 hose vs. other types of thermoplastic lines

Thermoplastic twin hoses are available in various designs, including R7 with textile reinforcement and R8 with aramid reinforcement. Steel-reinforced versions are also available. Individual solutions differ in pressure strength, dimensional parameters and assembly requirements.

When choosing a replacement twin hose, one must compare working pressure, diameter of both cores, minimum bending radius, temperature range and fitting compatibility. Hoses with the same DN06 diameter are not necessarily interchangeable. In the case of installations requiring specific compliance with SAE 100 R8, EN 855 R8 or ISO 3949 standards, the technical documentation for the specific model must be confirmed.

Why choose the TWIN R8 DN06 thermoplastic hose?

  • Working pressure 362 bar.
  • Two independent hydraulic cores connected in parallel.
  • Nominal diameter DN06 (1/4") for each core.
  • Aramid reinforcement characteristic of the R8 family.
  • Thermoplastic polyester core and polyurethane cover.
  • Twin construction facilitating installation organization.
  • Possibility of use in appropriately selected machines with moving hydraulic elements.
  • Possibility of making a complete line with separate ends for both cores.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What does TWIN mean in the name of a thermoplastic hose?

TWIN means a twin construction, consisting of two lines connected in parallel. Each core has its own flow channel and can constitute an independent hydraulic line.

What is the working pressure of the TWIN R8 DN06 hose?

The working pressure of the hose is 362 bar. When selecting a complete hose, the nominal pressure of the fittings and other connection elements must also be taken into account.

Does each core of the TWIN hose have a DN06 diameter?

Yes. The DN06 (1/4") designation applies to each of the two cores. The lines form separate flow channels for hydraulic oil.

Is the R8 twin hose suitable for lifts and forklifts?

The TWIN design can be used in appropriately selected hydraulic systems of lifts, platforms and forklifts. Before assembly, confirm the required pressure, hose dimensions and device operating conditions.

Can the TWIN R8 hose be replaced by another thermoplastic hose?

Selecting a replacement requires comparing working pressure, diameters, reinforcement type, minimum bending radius and fitting compatibility. Nominal diameter DN06 compliance alone does not guarantee interchangeability of R7, R8 and other types of lines.
