Compression pneumatic fittings

Metal compression fittings for pneumatics elbow and straight are high-quality components used in various pneumatic systems. Made of durable materials such as steel or brass, they provide reliable connections and resistance to high pressures and various working conditions. In our offer, you will find both elbow fittings, ideal for places with limited installation space, and straight fittings, intended for standard pneumatic applications. Thanks to precise workmanship and ease of assembly, our fittings ensure tightness and long service life of the system. Metal compression fittings are an indispensable element in pneumatic systems, offering durability and tightness of connections in a wide range of applications. Thanks to their solid construction, they are perfect for installations requiring high strength and resistance to difficult working conditions. Thanks to a wide offer of various fittings, every customer will find the right product, tailored to the individual needs of their pneumatic installation. We invite you to familiarize yourself with our offer and choose the fittings that best meet your requirements!

Other types of pneumatic fittings

It is worth noting that in addition to the standard compression fittings available on the site, Hydron also offers other types of fittings that can be used depending on the specific needs of the pneumatic installation. Among them, we can distinguish: Tekalan fittings – dedicated to tekalan hoses, which are characterized by lightness and flexibility, while ensuring the durability of connections. Push-in fittings for calibrated hoses – ideal for quick and simple installation in systems where precision and convenience of use matter.

BSP to NPT transition in a hydraulic system

A BSP to NPT transition is needed when two different thread standards meet in one installation. BSP thread is commonly used in European hydraulic systems, while NPT is often found in devices, pumps, and tools from the American market or in high-pressure components. The adapter allows you to connect these two worlds without making non-standard elements. In practice, such fittings work well with categories straight hydraulic fittings BB, straight NPT fittings and straight BSP inch fittings. This way, you can select not only the transition itself but also other elements needed for a complete connection.

What is the difference between BSP and NPT threads

BSPand NPT threads may look similar, but they are not the same standard. BSP is a British inch thread, often used in power hydraulics, pneumatics, and technical installations. NPT is a tapered pipe thread that seals by tightening the thread surfaces and is often found in hydraulic devices, pumps, and high-pressure tools. The most important difference concerns the thread geometry. That is why you should not try to screw a BSP element directly to an NPT element, even if the diameter seems similar. A BSP to NPT adapter solves this problem because each side of the fitting is made to the correct thread standard.

Technical parameters of the category:

  • Product type: straight fittings BB NPT/BSP
  • Function: connection of NPT thread with BSP thread
  • Construction type: straight, flow-through fitting
  • NPT thread type: tapered, external
  • BSP thread type: inch, external
  • Working pressure: depending on the variant, 315 or 350 bar
  • Working temperature: from -20°C to +120°C
  • Material: free-cutting steel
  • Surface protection: zinc plated in white passivation
  • Application: power hydraulics, pumps, hydraulic tools, hoses, connections and technical installations

NPT BSP adapter in power hydraulics

The term NPT BSP adapter is often used by customers looking for a transition between threads, but in this category, we technically speak of straight BB NPT/BSP fittings. These are flow-through elements that allow a connection to be made between two standards without changing the direction of the installation. If a change of direction is needed, a hydraulic elbow should be selected. If a change in diameter within one standard is needed, reducing bushings may be more appropriate.

Common error in selecting NPT/BSP fittings

The most common mistake is selecting a fitting solely by size, without checking the thread standard. A user sees a 1/4" or 3/8" designation and assumes the threads will fit. In practice, NPT and BSP have different geometries, so the connection may not be tight or could damage the thread in an expensive component, such as a pump, valve, or hydraulic tool. The second mistake is not considering the working pressure. In this category, variants with a working pressure of 315 or 350 bar are available, so before purchasing, you need to compare the parameter with the actual pressure of the system. A fitting should not be selected solely as "thread-matching" because it must also meet the installation's working conditions.

Consequences of poor NPT and BSP thread connection

A poorly chosen transition between NPT and BSP threads can cause oil leaks, pressure drops, difficulty in tightening, and thread damage. In power hydraulic systems, the consequences can be more serious than just the need to replace a fitting. A damaged thread in a pump, distributor, or hydraulic tool can mean costly repairs and machine downtime. A properly selected NPT BSP hydraulic fitting eliminates this problem because each side of the component is made to the correct thread standard. This allows the installation to work stably, and the connection is predictable during assembly and service.

How to choose the right NPT/BSP fitting

Selection should begin by determining what thread is in the device and what is on the hose or the rest of the installation. If the device has an internal NPT thread, an external NPT thread side is needed. If the hose has a BSP standard end, the other side of the fitting must correspond to that size and standard. Next, you need to check the working pressure, temperature, type of medium, and installation location. In hydraulic installations, the NPT/BSP fitting often works with hydraulic hoses, hose ends, pressure gauges, and hydraulic valves. Only such selection allows avoiding situations where the thread itself fits, but the system does not meet pressure or installation requirements.

Application of straight NPT/BSP fittings

Straight NPT/BSP fittings are used in power hydraulics, maintenance, machine service, hydraulic pumps, high-pressure tools, power units, and test stands. They are particularly useful when components come from different market standards and you need to connect a device with an NPT thread to a BSP hose or connection. In practice, such a fitting can be used with a hand pump, actuator, distributor, pressure gauge, valve, or hydraulic tool. For more extensive systems, it is also worth choosing pressure and vacuum gauges, hydraulic quick couplers, and hydraulic hoses to create a complete and safe working system.

NPT/BSP fitting vs. thread reduction

An NPT/BSP fitting is not always a reduction. If both ends have the same nominal size, for example, 1/4" NPT and 1/4" BSP, the component functions as a transition between thread standards. If one side is 1/4" NPT and the other is 3/8" BSP, then the component additionally changes the connection size. This distinction matters for SEO and for the customer. In the category text, it is worth using phrases such as NPT BSP fitting, NPT to BSP transition, NPT BSP adapter and NPT BSP hydraulic fitting, but you should not write "reduction" everywhere if the product does not always reduce the thread size.

Effect of correct NPT/BSP fitting selection

A well-chosen straight NPT/BSP fitting allows for a safe connection of hydraulic components made in different thread standards. Correct selection limits the risk of leaks, protects threads from damage, and facilitates the installation of hoses, pumps, valves, and hydraulic tools. In practice, this means faster service, fewer modifications, and more predictable operation of the installation.
