Description
Blanking plug / threaded plastic cap 1" Male BSP
The 1" Male BSP threaded plastic blanking plug is a protective cap with an external inch pipe thread, designed for temporary closing of compatible hydraulic ports and connections. Made of plastic, this element helps protect the interior of hoses, manifolds, actuators, valves, and other components from dust, dirt, metal shavings, and contamination during repairs, transport, storage, and assembly.
The 1" Male BSP plastic cap allows for temporary closure of a matching connection until the target hydraulic connection is made. It is useful when replacing hoses, servicing agricultural, construction, and industrial machinery, and preparing hydraulic components for storage or shipping.
Important: the 1" Male BSP plastic blanking plug does not withstand pressure loads. It must not be used to close hydraulic or pneumatic systems operating under pressure.
Color information: the product is available in various colors, which are packed and shipped randomly. The color of the delivered plug may differ from the one shown in the photo.

Application of the 1" BSP protective cap in power hydraulics
The 1" Male BSP threaded plastic cap is used for temporary protection of open connections during repairs, technical inspections, and maintenance of hydraulic equipment. It can be used in compatible ports of manifolds, actuators, valves, and other system components.
The blanking plug is also useful when disconnecting hydraulic hoses from agricultural, construction, and industrial machinery. Its task is to reduce the risk of contaminants entering the component before it is reconnected to the system.
Male thread G 1" BSP – dimensions and identification
The 1" BSP thread belongs to the inch pipe thread family. For cylindrical threads, the designation G 1 is used according to ISO 228-1. The standard external diameter of such a thread is approximately 33.25 mm, and the number of threads is 11 per inch, which corresponds to a pitch of approximately 2.309 mm.
BSP threads have a 55° profile. However, a distinction must be made between BSPP cylindrical threads, designated with the letter G, and BSPT tapered threads, designated, among others, with the letter R. The notation BSP alone does not uniquely specify the thread execution, so compatibility with the connection being protected should be checked before installing the plug.
It is worth remembering that the 1" BSP designation does not mean an external thread diameter of 25.4 mm. In pipe threads, the nominal size is not a direct value of the diameter measured with a caliper. A caliper and an inch thread gauge can be used to identify the thread.
Protecting hydraulic hoses from contamination
During service work, open hydraulic connections are exposed to contact with dust, sand, and metal shavings. The 1" Male BSP plastic blanking plug allows for temporary closure of a compatible port, helping to limit the ingress of contaminants.
Maintaining the cleanliness of hoses and hydraulic components is important for system durability. Contaminants entering the oil can accelerate the wear of pumps, manifolds, valves, and seals. Using protective caps during repairs and assembly helps reduce this risk.
1" Male BSP blanking plug for transport and storage
The 1" BSP plastic cap is useful when transporting and storing hydraulic parts. Temporary closure of the threaded port helps protect the interior of the component from dust and accidental entry of foreign objects.
The product can be used in power hydraulics workshops, spare parts warehouses, and when preparing components for shipping. Before starting the system, the plastic blanking plug must be removed and the target hydraulic connection made.
Plastic – construction of the protective blanking plug
The 1" Male BSP blanking plug is made of plastic. Its primary task is the temporary protection of threaded ports from contamination during transport, storage, assembly, and service work.
The plastic body is not adapted to withstand pressure loads. During assembly, avoid overtightening, which could lead to thread damage or deformation of the cap.
Plastic blanking plug vs. pressure hydraulic plug
The 1" Male BSP plastic cap performs a protective function and is used for temporary protection of threaded ports. It is not intended for maintaining operating pressure in a hydraulic system and cannot replace a correctly selected pressure plug.
If the connection is to remain closed during device operation, a proper hydraulic plug with confirmed operating parameters, a compatible thread, and an appropriate sealing method must be used. Just because the thread size matches does not mean the plastic blanking plug is suitable for pressure operation.
How to choose a 1" Male BSP plastic blanking plug?
Before purchasing, make sure that the port being protected has the appropriate BSP 1" internal thread. The standard G 1 cylindrical thread has an external diameter of approximately 33.25 mm and 11 threads per inch. It should also be confirmed whether the connection being protected has a cylindrical or tapered thread.
The product is suitable for temporary protection of connections during transport, storage, and repairs. It is not intended for closing a hydraulic system under pressure.
Assembly and disassembly of the BSP 1" plastic cap
Before assembly, turn off the device, safely depressurize the system, and clean the threaded port. Then, check the compatibility of the blanking plug's thread with the connection being protected.
The cap should be screwed in carefully, without using excessive force. If significant resistance appears during assembly, stop screwing and recheck the thread fit. Before starting the system, the plastic blanking plug must be removed and the target working connection made.
Various colors – random packing
1" Male BSP plastic blanking plugs are available in various color variants. Colors are packed and shipped randomly, so the product received may have a different color than the one shown in the photo.
Color is not a primary criterion for technical selection. The most important factors are thread compatibility and the protective purpose of the blanking plug.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What thread does the 1" Male BSP plastic blanking plug have?
The blanking plug has an external inch pipe thread in size 1" BSP. The standard G 1 cylindrical thread has an external diameter of approximately 33.25 mm and 11 threads per inch. Thread compatibility of the cap with the connection should be confirmed before assembly.
Does the 1" BSP plastic cap withstand hydraulic pressure?
No. The product does not withstand pressure loads and cannot be used to close an operating hydraulic system.
What is the 1" Male BSP plastic blanking plug used for?
It is used for temporary protection of hoses, manifolds, actuators, and other components from contamination during transport, storage, assembly, and repairs.
Does the 1" BSP thread have an external diameter of 25.4 mm?
No. The 1" designation is the nominal size of the pipe thread. The standard G 1 cylindrical thread has an external diameter of approximately 33.25 mm, so the designation should not be directly converted to a diameter measured with a caliper.
Are BSPP and BSPT threads the same?
No. BSPP means a cylindrical thread, while BSPT means a tapered thread. They can have the same profile and number of threads but differ in geometry. Thread type compatibility must be confirmed before assembly.
Can I choose the color of the blanking plug?
Blanking plugs are available in various colors, which are packed and shipped randomly. The color of the received product may differ from the one shown in the photo.
Can the plastic blanking plug be reused?
Check the condition of the thread and body before reuse. Cracked, deformed, or damaged blanking plugs must be replaced.
