Description
Threaded plastic cap / plug male 1 1/4" BSP
The threaded plastic cap male 1 1/4" BSP is a protective plug with an external inch pipe thread, designed for the temporary protection of hydraulic ports and connections. Made of plastic, the product helps protect the interior of hoses, manifolds, cylinders, valves, and other components from dust, dirt, metal shavings, and contamination during transport, storage, repair, and assembly.
The plastic plug male 1 1/4" BSP allows for the temporary closure of an open connection equipped with a compatible female thread. It is useful during hydraulic hose replacement, machine servicing, and preparing parts and devices for storage or shipment. The threaded design allows the cap to be seated in a properly matched hole until the final connection is made.
Important: the plastic cap male 1 1/4" BSP does not handle pressure loads. It must not be used to seal hydraulic or pneumatic systems operating under pressure.
Color information: the caps are available in various colors, packed and shipped randomly. The color of the received product may differ from the one shown in the photo.

Application of the 1 1/4" BSP protective plug in power hydraulics
The plastic threaded plug male 1 1/4" BSP is used for the temporary protection of open hydraulic connections during service work, technical inspections, and machine maintenance. It can be used in compatible ports of manifolds, cylinders, valves, and other elements equipped with the appropriate female thread.
The product is also useful during the disassembly of hoses and components of agricultural, construction, and industrial machinery. The cap reduces the possibility of contaminants entering the connection before the element is reconnected to the system.
Male thread G 1 1/4 BSP – dimensions and identification
The 1 1/4" BSP thread belongs to the family of inch pipe threads. For a cylindrical thread, the designation G 1 1/4 is used in accordance with ISO 228-1. The standard outside diameter of such a thread is approximately 41.91 mm, and the number of turns is 11 per inch, which corresponds to a pitch of approximately 2.309 mm.
BSP threads have a 55° profile angle. However, a distinction must be made between cylindrical BSPP threads, designated by the letter G, and tapered BSPT threads, designated among others by the letter R. The term BSP alone does not determine the specific type of thread execution for a product, so compatibility of the cap with the protected connection should be confirmed before installation.
The 1 1/4" BSP designation does not mean the outside diameter of the thread is 31.75 mm. This is the nominal size of the pipe thread, whose actual diameter is larger. A caliper and an inch thread pitch gauge can be used to identify the thread.
Protecting hydraulic hoses from contamination
During the disassembly and repair of hydraulic systems, open hoses and connections are exposed to contact with dust, dirt, sand, and metal shavings. The plastic cap male 1 1/4" BSP allows for the temporary closure of a compatible hole, helping to limit the access of contaminants to its interior.
Maintaining the cleanliness of hydraulic elements is of great importance for the durability of the system. Contaminants entering the oil can accelerate the wear of pumps, valves, manifolds, and sealing elements. Using protective plugs during repairs and storage helps reduce this risk.
Plastic cap 1 1/4" BSP for transport and storage
The protective plug male 1 1/4" BSP is useful during the transport and storage of hydraulic parts. Temporary closure of the threaded hole helps protect the interior of the component from dust and the accidental entry of foreign objects.
The product can be used in power hydraulics workshops, spare parts warehouses, and during the preparation of components for shipment. Before starting the system, the plastic cap must be removed and the final hydraulic connection must be made.
Plastic material – protective plug construction
The male 1 1/4" BSP cap is made of plastic. Its primary task is the temporary protection of threaded holes during transport, storage, and service activities.
The plastic construction is not intended to handle pressure loads. During installation, avoid overtightening, which could lead to deformation of the body or damage to the cap's thread.
Plastic cap vs. hydraulic pressure plug
The plastic plug male 1 1/4" BSP performs a protective function and is used for the temporary protection of holes against contamination. It is not adapted to maintain working pressure and cannot replace a properly selected hydraulic pressure plug.
If a connection is to remain closed while the device is operating, a hydraulic plug with confirmed working parameters, the correct thread, and the appropriate sealing method must be used. Just because the thread size matches does not mean the plastic cap can operate under pressure.
How to choose a plastic cap male 1 1/4" BSP?
Before purchasing, check if the protected hole has a compatible female BSP 1 1/4" thread. A standard cylindrical G 1 1/4 thread has an outside diameter of approximately 41.91 mm and 11 turns per inch. It is also necessary to confirm the cylindrical or tapered execution of the thread and its compatibility with the cap.
The product is intended for the temporary protection of connections during repairs, transport, and storage. It cannot be used as a closure for a system operating under pressure.
Installation and removal of the plastic BSP 1 1/4" plug
Before installation, turn off the device, safely depressurize the system, and clean the threaded hole. Then, check the compatibility of the plug's thread with the protected connection.
The cap should be screwed in carefully, without applying excessive force. If significant resistance occurs, stop screwing and re-verify the thread fit. Before starting the system, the plastic cap must be removed and the final hydraulic connection must be made.
Various colors – random packing
Plastic caps male 1 1/4" BSP come in various colors. Color variants are packed and shipped randomly, therefore the color of the received product may differ from the one shown in the photo.
Color is not a primary criterion for technical selection. The most important factors are thread compatibility and the protective purpose of the cap.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What thread does the plastic cap male 1 1/4" BSP have?
The cap has an external inch pipe thread in size 1 1/4" BSP. A standard cylindrical G 1 1/4 thread has an outside diameter of approximately 41.91 mm and 11 turns per inch. Before installation, confirm the compatibility of the actual plug thread with the connection.
Does the plastic plug 1 1/4" BSP withstand hydraulic pressure?
No. The product does not handle pressure loads and cannot be used to close an operating hydraulic system.
What is the male 1 1/4" BSP plastic cap used for?
It is used for the temporary protection of hoses, manifolds, cylinders, and other components against contamination during repairs, transport, storage, and assembly.
Does a 1 1/4" BSP thread have a diameter of 31.75 mm?
No. The 1 1/4" designation is the nominal size of the pipe thread. A standard cylindrical G 1 1/4 thread has an outside diameter of approximately 41.91 mm, so the designation should not be directly converted to a dimension measured with a caliper.
Are BSPP and BSPT threads the same?
No. BSPP stands for cylindrical thread, while BSPT stands for tapered thread. Both types have a 55° profile, but they differ in geometry. Before installation, confirm the type of thread on the protected connection.
Can I choose the color of the cap?
The product is available in various colors, packed and shipped randomly. The color of the received cap may differ from the one shown in the photo.
Can the plastic cap be reused?
Before reuse, check the condition of the thread and the body. Damaged, cracked, or deformed caps must be replaced.
