Description
PTFE Hose DN16 smooth -60°C to +260°C 114 bar
The smooth PTFE DN16 hose is an industrial teflon tube designed for conveying appropriately selected chemicals and process media. The internal diameter is 16 mm (5/8") and the working pressure is 114 bar. The smooth polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) core features wide chemical resistance, a low friction coefficient, and resistance to high temperatures. The outer AISI 304 stainless steel braid reinforces the structure during pressurized operation. The temperature range from -60°C to +260°C allows the tube to be used in demanding industrial installations, considering pressure limitations at elevated temperatures.

Application of the PTFE DN16 hose in industry
Due to its wide temperature range and resistance to many chemical substances, the PTFE DN16 hose is used in industrial, chemical, and process installations. It can be used for conveying steam, glues, paints, solvents, oils, fuels, dyes, and appropriately selected chemical and food substances. The smooth internal surface facilitates medium flow and limits the retention of its residues.
The hose can be used in dosing installations, process liquid transfer systems, and connections between production equipment. When transporting steam, the permissible pressure and temperature of the complete hose assembly must be confirmed. Applications requiring direct food contact must be preceded by verification of appropriate approvals for the specific hose, fittings, and seals.
Smooth PTFE core and chemical resistance
Polytetrafluoroethylene, also known as teflon, stands out for its resistance to many acids, bases, solvents, oils, and petroleum products. The material also exhibits resistance to UV radiation, oxygen, and ozone. As a result, PTFE hoses are used in installations where traditional rubber hoses may not provide the required chemical or temperature resistance.
The smooth internal wall limits flow resistance compared to many convoluted hoses. It also facilitates cleaning the hose and removing residues of the conveyed substances. This is beneficial when transporting paints, glues, dyes, and other process liquids where appropriate flow characteristics are essential.
The chemical resistance of PTFE does not cover all substances. Exceptions include gaseous fluorine, molten alkali metals, chlorine trifluoride, and oxygen difluoride. Material compatibility of the entire hose assembly must be confirmed before use with unusual media.
AISI 304 stainless steel braid
The outer AISI 304 stainless steel braid reinforces the hose and limits core deformation during pressurized operation. It also provides additional mechanical protection. When used in aggressive environments, the resistance of the braid itself must be taken into account, as it may differ from the chemical resistance of the internal PTFE layer.
Pressure 114 bar and temperature from -60°C to +260°C
The nominal working pressure of the hose is 114 bar. The hose is designed to operate in the temperature range from -60°C to +260°C. At temperatures above +120°C, the permissible pressure must be appropriately reduced, according to the temperature characteristics of the hose. The value of 114 bar should not be treated as permissible for the entire temperature range.
The safety factor is 4:1 and does not mean permission to work at a pressure four times higher than the nominal one. When selecting, restrictions resulting from the used fittings, sleeves, and seals must also be taken into account, especially in high-temperature installations.
Bending radius and correct installation
The minimum bending radius of the smooth PTFE DN16 hose is 178 mm. This parameter must be maintained during installation to avoid excessive stress and structural damage. Do not twist the hose around its axis or lead it directly over sharp edges.
Fittings and sleeves compatible with smooth PTFE hoses should be used to make finished assemblies. Crimping parameters must correspond to the specific set of components. Solutions intended for rubber hoses or convoluted PTFE should not be automatically applied. The finished assembly should be checked for leak-tightness and suitability for the planned operating conditions.
Why choose the smooth PTFE DN16 hose?

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Is the PTFE DN16 hose suitable for steam?
The hose can be used for conveying steam after confirming the permissible pressure and temperature of the complete assembly. The resistance of fittings and seals must also be taken into account.
Is the hose suitable for paints, glues, and solvents?
Yes, PTFE is resistant to many such substances. Before use, check the compatibility of the specific medium with the hose and connection materials.
Can the PTFE DN16 hose be used in the food industry?
PTFE is used in food installations. However, direct food contact requires confirmation of appropriate approvals for the specific hose and finished assembly.
Is the 114 bar pressure valid at +260°C?
No. The nominal working pressure is 114 bar, but at elevated temperatures, an appropriate pressure limitation must be applied. Maximum operating parameters should be determined for the entire hose assembly.
Hoses cut to the customer's request for any quantity (cut hoses are not subject to returns); return is possible only for full rolls (quantity in a roll? ask the seller), price per 1 linear meter.
