Description

Corrugated PTFE hose DN16 -60°C to +260°C 83 bar

Corrugated PTFE hose DN16 is an industrial teflon hose designed for conveying media requiring high chemical and thermal resistance. The internal diameter is 16 mm (5/8"), and the working pressure is 83 bar. The corrugated polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) core increases flexibility, while the external AISI 304 stainless steel braid reinforces the structure. The operating temperature range is from -60°C to +260°C, taking into account pressure limitations at high temperatures. The hose is used in chemical, technological, and industrial installations where flexibility and resistance to appropriately selected substances are required.

Application of DN16 PTFE hose in industry

Due to the wide temperature range and PTFE's resistance to many chemicals, the DN16 corrugated hose is used in the chemical, manufacturing, and processing industries. It can be used for transferring steam, adhesives, paints, solvents, oils, fuels, dyes, and appropriately selected chemical and food substances. The corrugated construction facilitates flexible connections between devices and routing the hose in limited installation spaces.

The hose can operate in dosing installations, transmission systems, production equipment, and selected hydraulic systems. When transporting steam, the allowable pressure and temperature of the complete assembly must be confirmed. Direct contact with food requires checking the appropriate approvals for the specific hose, fittings, and seals.

Corrugated PTFE core and chemical resistance

Polytetrafluoroethylene, also known as teflon, is characterized by resistance to many acids, bases, solvents, oils, and fuels. The material also shows resistance to UV radiation, oxygen, and ozone. Thanks to these properties, PTFE hoses can be used where traditional rubber hoses do not provide the required chemical or temperature resistance.

The corrugated core surface increases the hose's flexibility. The minimum bending radius is 51 mm, which facilitates routing the hose on curves. Compared to smooth versions, corrugation may, however, cause greater flow resistance. When selecting, consider the hose length, medium viscosity, and required flow rate.

The chemical resistance of PTFE does not cover all substances. Exceptions include gaseous fluorine, molten alkali metals, chlorine trifluoride, and oxygen difluoride. For unusual media, the material compatibility of the entire hose assembly must be confirmed.

AISI 304 stainless steel braid

The external AISI 304 stainless steel braid limits the deformation of the PTFE core during pressure operation and provides additional mechanical protection. Stainless steel shows corrosion resistance in many industrial environments. However, in contact with aggressive substances, the resistance of the braid, fittings, and seals should be checked separately.

Working pressure 83 bar and temperature up to +260°C

The nominal working pressure of the hose is 83 bar, and the operating temperature range is from -60°C to +260°C. At temperatures above +120°C, the allowable pressure must be reduced according to the hose's temperature characteristics. The 83 bar value cannot be automatically assumed for the entire temperature range. Before operation at high temperatures, it is necessary to confirm the allowable pressure for specific operating conditions.

The safety factor is 4:1 and does not mean the possibility of working at a pressure four times higher than the nominal one. The parameters of the complete hose may be further limited by the fittings used, crimping ferrules, and the type of medium being transported.

Fitting selection and correct assembly

Corrugated PTFE hose DN16 can be used to make hoses with crimped fittings. Fittings and ferrules designed for the specific construction of corrugated PTFE hose must be used. Crimping parameters must correspond to the components used and the pressure requirements of the installation.

During assembly, avoid twisting, stretching, and bending the hose below a 51 mm radius. Crimping settings intended for rubber or smooth PTFE hoses should not be automatically applied. The finished assembly should be checked for leaks and compliance with installation requirements.

Why choose a corrugated PTFE hose DN16?

  • Working pressure 83 bar.
  • Operating temperature from -60°C to +260°C.
  • Internal diameter 16 mm (DN16, 5/8").
  • Corrugated construction increasing flexibility.
  • Minimum bending radius 51 mm.
  • PTFE resistance to many chemicals.
  • Reinforcement with AISI 304 stainless steel braid.
  • Sold by the meter.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is the working pressure of the corrugated PTFE hose DN16?

The nominal working pressure is 83 bar. At high temperatures, the appropriate pressure limitation for the actual operating conditions must be checked.

What is the minimum bending radius of the DN16 hose?

The minimum bending radius is 51 mm. The corrugated construction facilitates routing the hose on curves, however, the allowable installation limits must not be exceeded.

Is the PTFE hose DN16 suitable for steam?

Such an application requires confirmation of the allowable pressure and temperature for the complete assembly and compatibility of the fittings and seals used.

Can the hose be used for paints, adhesives, and solvents?

PTFE is resistant to many such substances. Before use, the compatibility of the specific medium with the materials of the hose and connecting elements should be checked.

Hoses cut to the customer's request in any quantity (cut hoses are not subject to returns) return is only possible for full rolls ( quantity in roll? ask the seller) price per 1 meter.
