Description
Smooth PTFE Hose DN13 -60°C to +260°C 161 bar
The smooth PTFE hose DN13 is an industrial teflon hose designed for conveying chemical substances and technological media. It has an internal diameter of 13 mm (1/2") and a nominal working pressure of 161 bar. The smooth core made of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is characterized by wide chemical resistance, low friction coefficient, and resistance to high temperatures. External reinforcement consists of a single stainless steel braid AISI 304. The operating temperature range is from -60°C to +260°C, whereby at elevated temperatures, the allowable pressure must be appropriately reduced. The hose is used in chemical, industrial, and technological installations.

Application of the PTFE DN13 hose in industry
Due to the wide temperature range and the resistance of PTFE to most commonly used chemical substances, the smooth DN13 hose is used in industrial, chemical, and technological installations. It is used for conveying steam, adhesives, paints, solvents, oils, fuels, dyes, and appropriately selected chemical and food substances. The smooth internal surface reduces flow resistance and facilitates the removal of residues of the transported medium.
The hose can be used in dosing systems, technological liquid transport systems, production equipment, and connections between installation components. When conveying steam, the actual pressure and temperature of the medium and the allowable parameters of the finished hose assembly must be considered. Direct contact with food requires confirmation of appropriate approvals for the specific hose, fittings, and seals.
Smooth PTFE core and chemical resistance
The internal layer of the hose is made of polytetrafluoroethylene, also known as teflon. The material stands out for its resistance to many aggressive chemical substances, including acids, bases, and solvents. PTFE maintains its properties across a wide temperature range and exhibits resistance to UV radiation, oxygen, and ozone.
The smooth internal surface is characterized by a low friction coefficient, which for PTFE is approximately 0.02–0.2. Compared to many convoluted hoses, it facilitates the flow of the medium and limits the retention of residues of paints, adhesives, and other technological liquids. This is particularly useful in installations where proper flow conditions and the possibility of cleaning the hose are important.
The chemical resistance of PTFE has specific exceptions, which include, among others, gaseous fluorine, molten alkali metals, chlorine trifluoride, and oxygen difluoride. In the case of unusual substances, the material compatibility of the entire assembly should be checked, also considering the fittings and seals.
Single stainless steel braid AISI 304
The external reinforcement of the hose consists of a single braid made of AISI 304 stainless steel. It limits the deformation of the core during operation under pressure and provides additional mechanical protection. Stainless steel exhibits corrosion resistance in many industrial environments; however, when in contact with aggressive substances, the resistance of the braid itself should also be considered.
Pressure 161 bar and temperature from -60°C to +260°C
The nominal working pressure of the PTFE DN13 hose is 161 bar. The hose is designed for operation at temperatures from -60°C to +260°C. At temperatures above +120°C, the maximum working pressure must be reduced by 1% of the nominal value for every subsequent degree Celsius. This means that the value of 161 bar cannot be automatically assumed for the entire temperature range.
When selecting for a high-temperature installation, the allowable operating conditions of the entire assembly must be confirmed. The parameters of fittings, ferrules, seals, and the properties of the transported substance are also important. Applications with steam and hazardous media require a special assessment.
Assembly and swaging of fittings
Smooth PTFE DN13 hose can be used to manufacture hose assemblies with fittings attached by the method of swaging on a hydraulic press. Fittings and ferrules compatible with the construction of the smooth PTFE hose must be used. Swaging parameters must correspond to the specific set of components to ensure proper tightness and strength of the connection.
During installation, avoid twisting, excessive tension, and bending the hose below the allowable radius. Swaging parameters intended for rubber hoses or convoluted PTFE hoses should not be automatically applied. The finished hose should be checked for tightness and compliance with installation requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Is the PTFE DN13 hose suitable for steam?
The hose can be used to convey steam after confirming the allowable pressure and temperature parameters of the complete assembly. Fittings and seals compatibility must also be checked.
Is the PTFE hose suitable for paints, adhesives, and solvents?
Yes. PTFE is resistant to many paints, adhesives, dyes, and solvents. Compatibility of the specific medium with the hose materials must be confirmed before use.
Can the hose have direct contact with food?
PTFE is used in the food industry, but direct contact with food requires confirmation of appropriate approvals for the specific product and all components of the assembly.
Does the 161 bar pressure apply at +260°C?
No. At temperatures above +120°C, the allowable pressure must be appropriately reduced. Constraints resulting from the fittings used must also be considered.
Hoses cut to customer's request for any quantity (cut hoses are not subject to returns) return is possible only for full rolls ( quantity in roll? ask the seller) price per 1 linear meter.
