Description
PTFE Hose DN20 smooth -60°C to +260°C 103 bar
The PTFE DN20 smooth hose is an industrial teflon conduit designed for transporting media that require high chemical and thermal resistance. It has a nominal diameter of DN20 (3/4") and a working pressure of 103 bar. The internal core made of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) features a smooth surface, reducing flow resistance and facilitating cleaning. An external stainless steel braid reinforces the conduit during pressurized operation. The temperature range from -60°C to +260°C allows the hose to be used in industrial, chemical, and technological installations, while maintaining the allowable pressure for actual operating conditions.
Key technical parameters
- Type: PTFE smooth teflon hose.
- Nominal diameter: DN20 (3/4").
- Working pressure: 103 bar.
- Operating temperature: from -60°C to +260°C.
- Core material: polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE).
- Core construction: smooth.
- Reinforcement: stainless steel braid.
- Intended use: compatible chemicals, solvents, oils, fuels, and technological media.
- Fitting assembly: crimping of appropriately selected components.
- Sales unit: running meter.
Industrial application of the PTFE DN20 hose
Thanks to its wide temperature range and the resistance of PTFE to many chemicals, the DN20 smooth hose is used in industrial, chemical, and production installations. It can be used for transferring steam, glues, paints, solvents, oils, fuels, dyes, and properly selected chemical and food substances. The smooth inner surface promotes media flow and limits the retention of residues.
The conduit can be used in dosing installations, transfer systems, production equipment, and technological lines. When transporting steam, the allowable pressure and temperature of the complete hose assembly must be confirmed. Applications requiring direct contact with food must be preceded by verification of appropriate approvals for the hose, fittings, and seals.
Smooth PTFE core and chemical resistance
Polytetrafluoroethylene, also known as Teflon, is distinguished by its resistance to many acids, bases, solvents, and petroleum products. The material also shows resistance to UV radiation, oxygen, and ozone. As a result, PTFE hoses can be used in installations where traditional rubber hoses do not provide the required chemical or thermal resistance.
The smooth core construction reduces flow resistance compared to many convoluted hoses. It also facilitates cleaning of the internal surface, which is important when transporting paints, glues, dyes, and other technological media. When selecting, the viscosity of the substance, the length of the hose, and the required flow rate should be considered.
The chemical resistance of PTFE does not cover all substances. Particular caution is required for, among others, gaseous fluorine, molten alkali metals, and certain highly reactive fluorine compounds. Before using the hose for unusual media, the chemical compatibility of all assembly components must be confirmed.
Stainless steel braid
The external stainless steel braid provides reinforcement for the conduit and limits the deformation of the PTFE core during pressurized work. It also provides additional mechanical protection. When using the hose in an aggressive chemical environment, the resistance of the braid itself should be checked, as it may differ from the resistance of the internal teflon layer.
Working pressure 103 bar and temperature up to +260°C
The nominal working pressure of the PTFE DN20 smooth hose is 103 bar. The conduit is designed for operation in temperatures from -60°C to +260°C. As the temperature increases, the allowable pressure may decrease, therefore the 103 bar value should not be automatically assumed for the entire temperature range.
When selecting for high-temperature installations, the pressure-temperature characteristics of the hose and the limitations resulting from the fittings, ferrules, and seals used must be considered. Applications with steam and hazardous media require specific verification.
Fitting selection and proper assembly
The PTFE DN20 smooth hose can be used to create assemblies with fittings attached by the crimping method. Ferrules and fittings compatible with the construction of the smooth PTFE hose must be used. Crimping parameters must correspond to the components used and the requirements regarding pressure, temperature, and type of medium.
During assembly, twisting, stretching, and excessive bending of the conduit must be avoided. Crimping parameters intended for rubber hoses or corrugated PTFE conduits should not be automatically applied. The finished assembly should be checked for tightness and suitability for the planned operating conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Can the PTFE DN20 hose be used for steam?
Such application requires confirmation of the allowable pressure and temperature of the complete hose assembly, as well as the compatibility of fittings and seals.
Is the conduit suitable for paints, glues, and solvents?
PTFE is resistant to many such substances. Before use, the compatibility of the specific medium with the conduit and connection materials should be checked.
Can the PTFE DN20 hose have contact with food?
PTFE is used in food installations, however, direct contact with food requires confirmation of appropriate approvals for the specific conduit and finished assembly.
Does the 103 bar pressure apply at +260°C?
It should not be assumed that the nominal pressure of 103 bar applies at the maximum operating temperature. The allowable pressure must be determined taking into account the medium temperature and the parameters of the entire assembly.
