Description

PTFE Hose DN13 corrugated -60°C to +260°C 103 bar

The DN13 corrugated PTFE hose is an industrial Teflon conduit designed for the transport of appropriately selected chemical substances and technological media. The working pressure is 103 bar, and the operating temperature range covers values from -60°C to +260°C. The corrugated core made of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) provides resistance to many chemical substances and increases the hose's flexibility. An external stainless steel braid reinforces the structure during pressurized operation. The hose can be used in industrial installations requiring flexible connections, thermal, and chemical resistance. For elevated temperatures, the limitations of the permissible working pressure must be taken into account.

Technical parameters of the DN13 PTFE hose

  • Type: corrugated PTFE Teflon hose.
  • Nominal diameter: DN13 (1/2").
  • Internal diameter according to technical specification: 12 mm.
  • External diameter: 18.8 mm.
  • Working pressure: 103 bar (10.3 MPa).
  • Operating temperature: from -60°C to +260°C.
  • Minimum bending radius: 25 mm.
  • Core material: polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE).
  • Construction: corrugated inner layer.
  • Reinforcement: stainless steel braid.
  • Safety factor: 4:1.
  • Unit mass: 0.2804 kg/m.
  • Fitting attachment: crimping of appropriately selected elements.
  • Sales unit: linear meter.

Application of the DN13 PTFE hose in industry

Thanks to its wide temperature range and the resistance of PTFE to many chemicals, the DN13 corrugated hose is used in the chemical, manufacturing, and processing industries. It can be used for transferring steam, adhesives, paints, solvents, oils, fuels, dyes, and appropriately selected chemical and food substances. The corrugated design allows for flexible connections between devices and installation components.

The conduit can be used in dosing installations, transfer systems, and technological devices. When transporting steam, the permissible pressure and temperature parameters of the complete assembly must be confirmed. Direct contact with food requires additional confirmation of the appropriate approvals for the specific product, fittings, and seals.

Corrugated PTFE core and chemical resistance

Polytetrafluoroethylene, also known as Teflon, is distinguished by its resistance to many acids, bases, solvents, and petroleum products. The material is also resistant to UV radiation, oxygen, and ozone. Thanks to these properties, PTFE conduits are used in installations where traditional rubber hoses may not provide the required chemical or temperature resistance.

The corrugated core has a rippled surface that increases the conduit's susceptibility to bending. The minimum bending radius is 25 mm. Such a construction facilitates hose routing in places with limited installation space. At the same time, the corrugated inner surface may increase flow resistance compared to smooth conduits.

PTFE chemical resistance does not cover all substances. Particular caution is required for gaseous fluorine, molten alkali metals, chlorine trifluoride, and oxygen difluoride, among others. Before using the hose for unusual media, the chemical compatibility of the entire assembly must be confirmed.

Stainless steel braid reinforcement

The external stainless steel braid limits the deformation of the PTFE core during pressurized operation and provides additional mechanical protection. The reinforcement allows for a working pressure of 103 bar. When using the hose in an aggressive environment, the resistance of the braid to external conditions should be checked separately, as it may differ from the chemical resistance of the PTFE core.

Working pressure 103 bar and temperature up to +260°C

The nominal working pressure of the DN13 corrugated PTFE hose is 103 bar. The conduit is designed to operate in the temperature range from -60°C to +260°C. At elevated temperatures, the permissible pressure may require reduction; therefore, the 103 bar value should not be automatically assumed for the entire temperature range.

The safety factor is 4:1 and does not mean it is possible to operate at a pressure higher than the nominal working pressure. When selecting for an installation, the parameters of the used fittings, ferrules, and seals must also be taken into account.

Corrugated vs smooth PTFE hose

The corrugated version stands out for its greater flexibility compared to many comparable smooth-core PTFE conduits. A smooth hose, however, may provide better flow conditions and easier cleaning of the internal surface. The choice of construction depends on the installation conditions, type of medium, and system parameters.

A smooth DN13 PTFE hose with 161 bar is also available in our offer. Both variants differ in construction and working pressure. Before replacing, compare dimensions, bending radius, flow requirements, and fitting compatibility.

Fitting selection and correct assembly

The DN13 corrugated PTFE hose can be used to make assemblies with crimped fittings. For assembly, ferrules and fittings designed for the specific construction of the corrugated PTFE hose should be used. Crimping parameters should correspond to the components used and ensure the required tightness of the finished connection.

During installation, avoid twisting, stretching, or bending the conduit below the minimum radius of 25 mm. Do not automatically apply crimping parameters intended for rubber hoses or smooth PTFE conduits. The finished assembly should be checked for leaks and suitability for the planned operating conditions.

Why choose the DN13 corrugated PTFE hose?

  • Nominal working pressure 103 bar.
  • Operating temperature from -60°C to +260°C.
  • Commercial size DN13 (1/2").
  • Corrugated design increasing susceptibility to bending.
  • Minimum bending radius 25 mm.
  • PTFE resistance to many chemical substances and solvents.
  • Stainless steel braid reinforcement.
  • Possibility of making assemblies with crimped fittings.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is the working pressure of the DN13 corrugated PTFE hose?

The nominal working pressure is 103 bar. At elevated temperatures, appropriate pressure limitations for actual operating conditions should be checked.

What is the minimum bending radius of the hose?

The minimum bending radius is 25 mm. The conduit should be installed without excessive bending or twisting.

Can the DN13 PTFE hose be used for steam?

Such an application requires confirmation of the permissible pressure and temperature of the complete assembly, as well as the compatibility of fittings and seals with the operating conditions.

Is the hose suitable for paints, adhesives, and solvents?

PTFE is characterized by its resistance to many such substances. Compatibility of the specific medium with the materials of the conduit and fittings should be checked before use.

Hoses cut to customer request for any quantity (cut hoses are non-returnable); returns are only possible for full rolls (quantity per roll? ask the seller); price per 1 linear meter.
