Convoluted PTFE hose DN25 is an industrial teflon hose designed for the transport of appropriately selected chemicals, oils, fuels, solvents, and technological media. The inner diameter is 25 mm (1"), and the nominal working pressure is 46 bar. The convoluted polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) core provides broad chemical resistance and facilitates hose routing around curves. An external stainless steel braid reinforces the structure during pressurized operation. Convoluted PTFE hose DN25 can be used in industrial installations requiring resistance to chemicals and a wide temperature range. It is used for transferring appropriately selected acids, bases, solvents, oils, fuels, adhesives, paints, and dyes. It can also be used in selected technological installations transporting water steam.

The 25 mm inner diameter enables flexible connections between devices and system components. When selecting, the medium temperature, required pressure, flow rate, and chemical resistance of the entire assembly must be considered. Food applications require additional confirmation of appropriate approvals for the finished hose.

Convoluted PTFE core and chemical resistance

Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), also known as teflon, is characterized by its resistance to many chemical substances. This material is used for transporting media that could cause accelerated wear of traditional rubber hoses. PTFE is also characterized by a very low coefficient of friction and resistance to UV radiation, oxygen, and ozone.

The chemical resistance of PTFE is not unlimited. Substances requiring particular caution include gaseous fluorine, molten alkali metals, chlorine trifluoride, and oxygen difluoride. Before using the hose for unusual or particularly aggressive media, the compatibility of the hose materials, fittings, and seals must be confirmed.

Flexible convoluted construction

The convoluted core construction increases the hose's flexibility compared to many smooth-bore PTFE hoses. This facilitates installation in areas with limited space and making connections that require curved hose routing. The hose should be installed without twisting, excessive tension, or exceeding the allowable bending radius.

The corrugated internal surface may increase flow resistance compared to smooth hoses. In high-capacity installations, the hose length, the properties of the transported medium, and the required hydraulic parameters of the system should be taken into account.

AISI 304 stainless steel braid

The external AISI 304 stainless steel braid reinforces the hose during pressurized operation. It limits core deformation and provides additional mechanical protection. Stainless steel is characterized by corrosion resistance in many industrial environments; however, when exposed to aggressive chemicals, the resistance of the braid itself must also be considered.

46 bar pressure and temperature from -60°C to +260°C

The nominal working pressure of the hose is 46 bar. The operating temperature range covers values from -60°C to +260°C, but the allowable pressure depends on the medium temperature. Above +120°C, it is necessary to appropriately reduce the working pressure; therefore, the 46 bar value should not be treated as allowable for the entire temperature range.

When designing a high-temperature installation, the allowable pressure for the required temperature must be confirmed, and the resistance of fittings, sleeves, and seals must be taken into account. Applications with water steam, gaseous media, and hazardous substances require special verification.

Fitting selection and hose crimping

The PTFE DN25 hose is suitable for making assemblies with fittings attached by crimping on a hydraulic press. Fittings and sleeves designed for the specific convoluted PTFE hose construction should be used for assembly. Crimping parameters should comply with the requirements of the components used to ensure leak-tightness and appropriate joint strength.

Fittings or crimping settings intended for rubber hoses or smooth-bore PTFE hoses should not be automatically used. The finished assembly should be matched to the medium, temperature, and working pressure of the installation.
