Description

PREMIUM Sandblast Hose SM1 DN32 1 1/4" 15 bar

PREMIUM Sandblast Hose SM1 DN32 1 1/4" is a hose designed for transporting highly abrasive materials in sandblasting installations and during abrasive blasting. The DN32 variant has an inner diameter of 32 mm, an outer diameter of 48 mm, and a maximum working pressure of 15 bar. A high-resistance inner layer, antistatic construction, and textile reinforcement prepare the hose for working with quartz sand, steel shot, corundum, and glass, among others.

Technical parameters Sandblast SM1 DN32

  • product type: hose for sandblasting and transport of abrasive materials,
  • series: PREMIUM Sandblast SM1,
  • nominal size: DN32 / 1 1/4",

  • construction: antistatic.

DN32 for installations requiring a larger cross-section

The 32 mm inner diameter allows the hose to be used in installations where a larger cross-section is needed for transporting the air and abrasive stream. This size can be particularly useful for larger sandblasting equipment and on sections where limiting flow losses is of great importance.

The selection of DN32 should, however, result from the parameters of the entire set. Compressor efficiency, nozzle diameter, hose length, and required flow must be considered. A larger hose diameter by itself will not increase the efficiency of the installation if the other components act as a limitation.

Inner layer resistant to intensive abrasion

In the sandblasting process, the most stressed part of the hose is its interior. Abrasive grains moving at high speed strike the rubber surface, especially on bends and at points of direction change.

The SM1 working layer is made of an NR/BR/SBR blend with very high abrasion resistance. The average material wear is 36 mm³ according to DIN ISO 4649:2021, which is one of the most important parameters of this series.

For sand, shot, corundum, and glass

The manufacturer intends the SM1 for conveying highly abrasive media such as quartz sand, steel shot, corundum, or glass. Thanks to this, the hose can be used during the cleaning of steel structures, surface preparation before painting, corrosion removal, and other abrasive blasting processes.

Antistatic hose construction

The flow of dry abrasive promotes the generation of electrostatic charges. Therefore, the SM1 construction is designed to be antistatic. The inner layer is electrically conductive, and the outer layer also possesses antistatic properties.

This is a critical feature for a hose intended specifically for sandblasting applications, rather than universal medium transport.

PREMIUM Sandblast SM1 DN32 Construction

The inner layer is made of an NR/BR/SBR blend. It is black, smooth, electrically conductive, and highly resistant to abrasion. The reinforcement consists of two textile layers.

The outer SBR layer is resistant to ozone and atmospheric conditions, has antistatic properties, and features a characteristic fabric impression.

15 bar and 3.5:1 safety factor

The maximum working pressure for the DN32 variant is 15 bar, and the construction safety factor is 3.5:1. The 15 bar value refers to the hose itself when used as intended.

The permissible parameters of the complete installation are limited by the weakest element of the set; therefore, couplings, holders, clamps, and other components must also be properly selected for the working pressure.

320 mm bending radius, especially important for DN32

The minimum bending radius for this variant is 320 mm. The DN32 hose is larger and stiffer than the DN20 or DN25 versions, so when laying the installation, sufficient space must be left for its natural positioning.

A bend that is too tight can cause cross-section deformation, flow restriction, and faster wear of the inner layer at the bend point.

48 mm outer diameter important for coupling selection

When selecting couplings and fastening elements, not only the DN32 inner diameter should be considered but also the hose's outer diameter of 48 mm.

Selecting equipment solely by the 1 1/4" designation can lead to errors if a specific coupling system requires a particular outer diameter or wall thickness.

The difference between SM1 and SM2 is not just the number of layers

When choosing between SM1 and SM2, it is worth paying attention primarily to the parameters of the specific variant, the resistance of the inner layer, and the installation requirements. For SM1, the manufacturer specifies an average inner layer wear of 36 mm³, indicating very high abrasion resistance.

One should not assume that every SM1 is automatically a four-layer hose. In the DN32 32×48 mm variant, two textile layers are used; versions with an expanded reinforcement package are separate construction versions.

How to inspect a sandblasting hose?

For hoses used with abrasive materials, wear occurs primarily from the inside. The outer layer may still look correct while the thickness of the working part gradually decreases.

The hose should be regularly inspected for abrasions, local deformations, damage to the outer layer, and other unusual signs of wear. Any element showing damage that affects safety must be withdrawn from service.

What to check before purchase?

  • if the required size is DN32 / 1 1/4",
  • if the working pressure does not exceed 15 bar,
  • if the installation provides space for a minimum bending radius of 320 mm,
  • if the couplings fit the 48 mm outer diameter,
  • if the compressor efficiency corresponds to the hose cross-section and the nozzle used,
  • if the hose length is appropriate for the installation parameters.

For professional abrasive blasting

PREMIUM Sandblast SM1 DN32 1 1/4" is ideal for sandblasting workshops, industrial plants, surface preparation companies, and for cleaning larger steel structures. The combination of a large cross-section, high abrasion resistance, and antistatic construction meets the requirements of intensive operation with abrasive media.
