Description
PREMIUM Sandblast SM2 DN20 3/4" 15 bar sandblasting hose
The PREMIUM Sandblast SM2 DN20 3/4" sandblasting hose is a specialized hose for transporting highly abrasive materials in sandblasting installations and abrasive blasting equipment. The DN20 variant has an outer diameter of 33 mm, a wall thickness of 7 mm, and a maximum working pressure of 15 bar. Two layers of textile reinforcement, an antistatic design, and an abrasion-resistant inner layer prepare the hose for working with, among others, quartz sand, steel shot, corundum, and glass.

DN20 a more convenient hose for manual work
The DN20 / 3/4" size is a good option where, in addition to abrasion resistance, the ability for the operator to guide the hose comfortably is also important. Compared to larger diameters DN25 and DN32, the hose is lighter and requires a smaller bending radius.
A weight of approximately 0.65 kg per meter and a minimum bending radius of 190 mm make it easier to guide the hose at the workstation, especially when cleaning steel structures, machine parts, or details with complex geometry.
Inner layer prepared for abrasive action
In an ordinary rubber hose, a stream of sand or shot can quickly cause wear to the inner wall. Sandblast SM2 was designed specifically for such applications.
The inner layer is made of an NR/BR/SBR compound. It is smooth, black, antistatic, and abrasion-resistant. The average material loss is 60 mm³ according to DIN ISO 4649:2021.
What materials can SM2 be used for?
Product documentation indicates application for the transport of highly abrasive materials used during sandblasting and abrasive blasting.
- quartz sand,
- steel shot,
- corundum,
- glass,
- other abrasive materials intended for this type of installation.
Antistatic construction important with dry abrasive
Moving dry abrasive material at high speed can cause electrostatic charges to build up. Therefore, the SM2 hose has an antistatic construction that limits their accumulation.
These properties apply to both the inner and outer layers of the hose and are an essential element of the design of a hose intended specifically for sandblasting.
Two layers of textile reinforcement
The construction of the hose is stabilized by two textile layers. Their task is to reinforce the hose during operation under pressure while maintaining the flexibility needed for manual hose guidance.
The outer layer is made of black SBR resistant to ozone and atmospheric conditions. The surface has a characteristic fabric impression.
15 bar maximum working pressure
The maximum working pressure of Sandblast SM2 DN20 is 15 bar, and the structural safety factor is 3.5:1.
This value applies to the hose itself. When assembling the installation, you should also check the parameters of the couplings, clamps, nozzles, and other elements. The maximum allowable pressure of the set is always limited by the component with the lowest rating.
190 mm bending radius important during operator work
The minimum bending radius of this variant is 190 mm. Thanks to this, the DN20 hose can be guided along smaller curves than larger versions of the SM2, but sharp kinks should still be avoided.
An excessively tight bend can deform the hose's cross-section, restrict the flow of the air-abrasive mixture, and increase local wear of the inner layer.
33 mm outer diameter important when choosing accessories
When choosing couplings and mounting elements, you must consider not only the nominal 3/4" size but also the hose's outer diameter of 33 mm and wall thickness of 7 mm.
This is particularly important in sandblasting coupling systems where the mechanical attachment of the hose must be matched to its actual dimensions.
Temperature range from -35°C to +80°C
Sandblast SM2 can operate at temperatures from -35°C to +80°C. This allows the hose to be used both in workshops and industrial plants, as well as during outdoor work.
Standard EN ISO 3861:2021
The hose is specified in the documentation as compliant with EN ISO 3861:2021. This is an important distinction from ordinary rubber hoses, as the SM2 was structurally designed for applications related to sandblasting and abrasive transport.
Where will Sandblast SM2 DN20 perform well?
- sandblasting of steel elements,
- cleaning structures from corrosion,
- shot blasting of metal parts,
- surface preparation before painting,
- renovation of machines and structures,
- workshops and sandblasting chambers,
- mobile abrasive blasting sets.
Hose wear can progress from the inside
A sandblasting hose is operated in different conditions than a typical air hose. The abrasive material constantly acts on its interior, so a hose that looks good externally may already be partially worn on the working side.
The manufacturer recommends regular inspection of hoses and their immediate replacement after detecting damage to the outer layer or unusual signs of wear.
What to check before buying?
- whether the required size is DN20 / 3/4",
- whether the working pressure of the installation does not exceed 15 bar,
- whether the compressor efficiency corresponds to the diameter of the hose and nozzle,
- whether the minimum bending radius of 190 mm can be maintained,
- whether the couplings are adapted to an outer diameter of 33 mm,
- whether the length of the hose will not cause excessive losses in the installation.
SM2 DN20 compact hose for professional sandblasting
PREMIUM Sandblast SM2 DN20 3/4" combines a low weight compared to larger variants with the parameters required for professional abrasive transport. It is a good solution where the operator frequently moves the hose and both wear resistance and ease of handling are important.
