Connector nuts DIN 6334

NOTE: in power hydraulics, these elements are known as : threaded sleeve !

DIN 6334 is a German technical standard specifying parameters for a fastener known as a hexagonal coupling nut (long) – that is, an extended nut, used to connect two threaded rods, bolts, or studs of the same type and thread diameter. What is a DIN 6334 nut? The DIN 6334 coupling nut (also called a „threaded connector” or „extension nut”) has a hexagonal shape and is approximately three times longer than a standard hexagonal nut according to DIN 934. Inside, it has a full metric thread (M), which enables a permanent connection of two threaded elements. It is most commonly made of steel, A2 or A4 stainless steel, as well as in galvanized versions for increased corrosion resistance.

Design and dimensions of the DIN 6334 coupling nut

According to the DIN 6334 standard, the nut has: a hexagonal shape for a comfortable wrench grip, full thread passage, a length three times the nominal thread diameter (3 × d). For example: for an M10 nut, the length is approx. 30 mm, for M12 – approx. 36 mm, for M16 – approx. 48 mm. Typical sizes according to the DIN 6334 standard: M4 – M48.

Application of DIN 6334 nuts

Coupling nuts are used in places where it is necessary to:  connect two threaded rods, extend a bolt or stud, achieve an adjustable connection in steel structures, connect assembly elements in hydraulics, pneumatics, machine construction, and industrial equipment. In power hydraulics, such nuts are often used for mounting support structures, frames, hose fasteners, and other installation elements.

Manufacturing materials and protective coatings

  • Galvanized steel – standard application in general structures, good corrosion protection,

  • A2 stainless steel (AISI 304) – resistance to corrosion and weather conditions,

  • A4 acid-resistant steel (AISI 316) – high chemical and salt water resistance,

  • Brass or aluminum – used less frequently, in special connections.

Advantages of DIN 6334 nuts

  • durable and secure threaded connection,

  • possibility of extending a bolt without welding,

  • resistance to loosening and vibrations,

  • simple and fast installation,

  • availability of many diameters and materials.

In the store Hydron we offer coupling nuts compliant with the DIN 6334 standard made of high-grade steel, available in various diameters and material versions. Our products meet industrial requirements and are covered by quality certificates. Thanks to a wide assortment, Hydron provides not only fasteners but also comprehensive solutions for power hydraulics and industry. DIN 6334 is a standard defining long hexagonal coupling nuts that allow for solid connection of threaded rods. They are indispensable in steel structures, industrial installations, and assembly of hydraulic elements.
