Hydraulic rotary joint
Hydraulic rotary joint for power hydraulics, hoses
What is a rotary joint?
Rotary joint are components in hydraulic systems that allow for the transfer of fluids between stationary and rotating machine elements. Their use prevents hose damage caused by twisting or stress, which is particularly important in construction, agricultural, and industrial machinery. A type of joints designed for use on flexible hoses. Rotary joint is used for systems requiring a rotary connection and to eliminate hose stress. The joints prevent twisting and damage to the hydraulic hose. Rotary fittings are used in construction, agricultural, and industrial machinery, in lifts, and the automotive industry. Joints can be used for power hydraulics, pneumatics, water. Advantages of rotary joints: protect the hose, save costs, easy installation
Rotary joint and its types
Rotary joint comes in two versions: straight joints and elbow joints (90-degree angle). We have 2 threads in the joints: one male thread, one female thread. The joints are available with British standard inch threads (BSP) - using adapters we can reduce (change) the thread type.
Technical parameters of rotary joints
- Execution: free-cutting steel, zinc-plated
- Available versions: straight, 90-degree elbow
- Working pressure: depending on size from 200 to 400 bar
- Available threads: 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", 3/4", 1", 1.1/4", 1.1/2", 2"
Application of rotary joints
Rotary joint are essential in systems where rotary or oscillatory movement occurs. They are used in many industries, such as: Construction machinery: Booms, arms, and excavators, where hydraulic hoses must be resistant to rotary movements. Agriculture: Agricultural machines such as harvesters or sprayers requiring flexible connections in moving parts. Food and chemical industry: Installations where the medium is transported to rotating elements, such as mixers or centrifuges. Heavy industry: Presses, lifts, and hoisting equipment that require reliable hydraulic connections.
Rotary connection-what is it and what is it used for in power hydraulics?
What is a rotary connection ? A rotary connection (also known as a rotary joint or swivel joint) is an element of a hydraulic system that allows a hose or component to rotate around its own axis without interrupting the flow of the medium. Thanks to its design, it allows for safe transfer of hydraulic pressure while the installation parts are in rotary motion. In practice, this means that the rotary joint prevents twisting and stressing of hydraulic hoses, which significantly extends their lifespan and improves the safety of the entire system. It is an often underestimated element, yet crucial in systems where rotary movements occur, such as in construction, agricultural, or industrial machinery.
Construction and principle of operation of a rotary connection
A rotary connection consists of two main parts: the body (stationary part) – connected to one of the system elements, the rotary ring (moving part) – which can rotate around the axis. Inside the joint, there are high-pressure resistant seals that guarantee tightness during rotation. Hydron rotary joints are designed to ensure smooth rotation without leaks and pressure loss, even under high loads and dynamic movements.
Application of rotary connections
Rotary connections are used in places where a hydraulic hose or another installation element is exposed to torsional or rotational movements. Typical applications include: construction machinery – e.g., excavators, cranes, loaders, where hoses move with the arm, agricultural machinery – e.g., sprayers, balers, slurry tankers, industrial equipment – e.g., production lines, manipulators, systems with moving arms, hydraulic systems with components rotating 360°, where it is necessary to maintain a continuous flow of oil under pressure. Thanks to rotary joints, it is possible to ensure flexibility and safety of the hydraulic installation, without the risk of hose breakage or joint damage. (V10)
