Eye fittings for hose crimping

BANJO hose eye fittings - for banjo bolt

Eye fittings, also known as "banjo" fittings, intended for crimping on hydraulic hoses, fuel hoses, teflon etc. The offer includes both metric eye fittings (RNM) intended for a banjo bolt with metric threads, and imperial (RNR) intended for bolts with a BSP imperial thread. In our offer, we have fuel eye fittings for low-pressure lines (without lock) intended for fuel and pneumatic lines. We also have threaded (hollow) bolts for eye fittings. Eyes are used, among others, in situations where we do not have much space for the use of, e.g., an elbow fitting, in which case we use an eye fitting that we tighten with a bolt.

What is a hose eye fitting?

A hose eye fitting allows for connecting a line to another element of the system. Banjo eye fittings are popular power hydraulic and pneumatic elements that find wide application in many industries, such as automotive, mechanical engineering, or construction. They are distinguished by a characteristic shape with an eye, which allows for a durable and reliable connection of lines. Eye fittings are a type of hydraulic connectors equipped with an eye that serves as a mounting connector or a transition for a line. Thanks to their design, they ensure high tightness and durability, even in the most demanding conditions.

Hydraulic eye

A hydraulic eye, also known as a "banjo" type eye fitting, is a specialized element used in power hydraulic systems and fuel systems, pneumatics, which allows for a permanent and tight connection of a hydraulic line with another system component. On the Hydron store website in the "BANJO eye fittings (P01, C01)" category, you can find an offer for both RNM metric fittings (designation P01) and BSP imperial fittings (designation C01). An eye fitting (banjo) is a connector equipped with an eye – i.e., a ring – which allows for connecting a hydraulic line using a banjo bolt (hollow, overflow) in the installation socket. Thanks to this construction, it is possible to mount the line without the need for a lot of space, as typical hydraulic elbows sometimes require.

Eye crimp fitting

An eye crimp fitting is a colloquial and often used practical term for a banjo type eye fitting used for crimping hydraulic lines. These types of fittings are characterized by an eye with a through-hole, which allows the line to be screwed to an installation element using a hollow bolt, while ensuring a tight and axial connection. Banjo type eye fittings, called eye crimp fittings in workshops, are commonly used in power hydraulics, automotive, and in machinery and equipment systems where compact installation and the possibility of routing the line at different angles are important. Thanks to their design, they allow for the rotation of the line relative to the bolt axis, which facilitates assembly and minimizes stress in the hose. An eye crimp fitting finds application in both low and high-pressure hydraulic lines, provided that the appropriate type of fitting, material of construction, and hose diameter are selected. Banjo fittings are designed for operation in demanding service conditions where durability, tightness, and connection reliability count. Hydron's offer includes P01 and C01 eye fittings intended for professional crimping of hydraulic lines. These are proven solutions chosen by services, workshops, and industrial plants that expect repeatable quality and safe operation of the hydraulic installation.

Banjo bolt, overflow bolt - eye fitting mounting

The mounting of the eye fitting is performed using a banjo bolt (eye bolt). A banjo bolt (otherwise known as an eye bolt) is a specialized mounting element used in hydraulic, fuel, and pneumatic systems. Its characteristic construction with overflow channels allows for simultaneously screwing the line and ensuring the flow of liquid or gas through the system. A banjo bolt is a mounting element with an overflow hole that allows for the free flow of the medium (e.g., hydraulic oil or fuel) through a line connected to an eye fitting. These types of bolts are used in systems where simultaneous sealing of the connection and maintaining flow are required. Construction of a banjo bolt: Threaded shank: allows for solid screwing into a socket in the system. Overflow channels: holes along the shank allowing for the flow of the medium.

Parameters of eye fittings

  • design : carbon steel or stainless steel.
  • finish : zinc plating protecting against corrosion
  • available types for metric or imperial BSP bolts
  • purpose : crimping on a hydraulic hose

Application of banjo bolts and eye fittings

Banjo bolts in combination with eye fittings are commonly used in systems requiring reliable medium flow and tightness. Examples of applications: Fuel systems: Fuel line connections in internal combustion engines. Lines supplying fuel to injectors. Hydraulic systems: Connecting lines in actuator and manifold systems. Application in construction, agricultural, and industrial machinery. Brake systems: Use in hydraulic lines in vehicles. Connecting ABS system elements. Cooling and lubrication systems: Oil lines in engine and turbine lubrication systems.

What do RNM and RNR mean in the context of eye fittings?

RNM and RNR are abbreviations identifying specific types of eye fittings in hydraulic and fuel systems. They are related to the construction and type of thread used:

  • RNM (Ring Nut Metric): Stands for Banjo type eye fittings with a metric thread. Metric threads are the standard in most hydraulic systems used in Europe. Used in systems where the mounting thread has dimensions in millimeters. Example: assembly of fuel or hydraulic lines in European vehicles. In Poland, RNM fittings are quite often designated as P01 fittings
  • RNR (Ring Nut BSP or NPT): Stands for Banjo type eye fittings with an imperial thread (e.g., BSP or NPT). Imperial threads are common in hydraulic and fuel systems in British or American systems. Used in places where the threaded connection is adapted to imperial standards. In Poland, this type of fitting is also designated as C01

Fuel line fitting

Eye fittings as fuel line fittings – why are they used so often? Eye fittings are commonly called fuel line fittings because they represent one of the most frequently used types of terminations in fuel systems. Their specific construction, including a characteristic eye, allows for a solid and tight connection of the fuel line with other system elements, such as fuel pumps, injectors, or pressure regulators. Eye fittings are made of high-quality materials resistant to the action of fuel, oils, and high temperatures. Their solid construction ensures durability and minimizes the risk of fuel leaks, which is crucial in fuel systems. Eye fittings can be found in various types of vehicles – from passenger cars and trucks, through agricultural machinery, to specialized vehicles. Their versatility makes them one of the most universal solutions for fuel connections.

Eye fittings used in fuel lines

What are eye fittings? Eye fittings are a special type of hydraulic fittings characterized by a solid ring-shaped termination (the so-called "eye"). Their design allows for a secure, tight, and durable connection of the line with fuel system elements, such as pumps, filters, or injection rails. Thanks to their construction, they provide resistance to vibrations and minimize the risk of leakage, which is particularly important in the case of lines transporting fuel or diesel oil.

Application of eye fittings in fuel systems

Eye fittings are commonly used in fuel supply systems in passenger cars, trucks, as well as industrial machines. In combination with fuel lines, they create a tight and safe system for transporting the working fluid. Their design allows for mounting in hard-to-reach places, and thanks to various bend angles (e.g., 45° or 90°), they can be adapted to a specific installation. The Hydron store offers eye fittings, which meet high requirements regarding quality, durability, and tightness of connections. These products are made of precisely machined steel, resistant to fuels, oils, and high pressures.

Compatible fuel lines

To create a complete and reliable fuel system, it is worth choosing appropriate lines in addition to eye fittings. Hydron offers a wide selection of lines designed for work with fuels: Rubber fuel hoses – flexible, resistant to gasoline, diesel fuel, and biofuels. Used in vehicles, power generators, agricultural and construction machinery. PTFE hoses in stainless steel braid – intended for applications requiring the highest chemical and thermal resistance. They perform perfectly in professional fuel systems and where temperature resistance and connection durability matter.
