Description

Straight connector BB BSP 1/8" 350 bar

Straight connector BB BSP 1/8" is a compact hydraulic nipple equipped with two identical male threads BSP 1/8". It is used for direct connection of two compatible installation elements with female threads. Since the same BSP size is used on both sides, the connector does not perform a reduction.

The element is made of free-cutting steel protected with zinc plating and white passivation. The connector has a 60° sealing cone, can work at pressures up to 350 bar and at temperatures from -20°C to +120°C.

Technical parameters of the BSP 1/8" connector

  • product type: straight hydraulic connector BB,
  • type: straight connector / hydraulic nipple,
  • thread 1: male BSP 1/8",
  • thread 2: male BSP 1/8",
  • BSP 1/8" thread dimension: 9.3-9.7 mm male / 8.2-8.6 mm female,
  • sealing cone: 60°,
  • maximum working pressure: 350 bar,
  • working temperature: from -20°C to +120°C,
  • material: free-cutting steel,
  • surface protection: zinc plating with white passivation,
  • manufacturing standard: BS5200 / ISO 8434-6,
  • medium: hydraulic oil,
  • intended use: connecting hydraulic installation elements,
  • marking according to Rastelli-Raccordi: 34.69.02.02,
  • marking according to Vitillo: ANGG0202,
  • alternative marking: 1B-02 / XG 1/8".

Hydraulic nipple BSP 1/8" with two male threads

The marking BB indicates that the connector has two male threads. In this variant, BSP 1/8" is used on both sides, allowing the element to make a simple axial connection without changing the port diameter.

If you need a different size or a reducing connector, check the category BSP straight and reducing connectors.

How to recognize a BSP 1/8" thread?

BSP 1/8" male thread has an actual diameter of about 9.3-9.7 mm. This is especially important during part identification, as the 1/8" designation is a nominal value.

Therefore, one should not convert 1/8 inch directly into millimeters and expect a diameter of 3.175 mm. If a caliper indicates about 9.5 mm, it is a strong indication that we are dealing with BSP 1/8".

Measuring the diameter alone is not everything

Thread diameter allows for quickly narrowing down the choice, but for certain identification, you should also check thread pitch and sealing system. This is particularly important when matching parts to an old machine or an element without clear marking.

Similarly looking threads from different systems should not be joined solely based on the fact that they can be started to be screwed together.

60° sealing cone

The BSP 1/8" connector has a 60° sealing cone. When connecting to an element using a conical surface, ensure that the geometry of both parts is compatible.

Just matching the BSP 1/8" thread does not guarantee proper tightness. The sealing method should correspond to the design of the mating element.

Working pressure up to 350 bar

The maximum working pressure specified for this connector is 350 bar. This is a parameter of the specific BSP 1/8" variant and should not be automatically assigned to other connector sizes.

In a complete hydraulic system, the allowable pressure is determined by the element with the lowest rated value. Therefore, hoses, fittings, quick couplers, valves, and other adapters must also be taken into account.

Ready-made solutions can be found in the category crimped hydraulic hoses.

BSP 1/8" in small hydraulic connections

BSP 1/8" is one of the smaller thread sizes used in hydraulics. When using it, it is especially important to consider the required medium flow, as the small cross-section of the connection can be a limitation in circuits with higher flow rates.

The port size should therefore be selected not only according to the mechanical possibility of connecting the elements but also in accordance with the design parameters of the entire circuit.

Free-cutting steel protected with zinc plating

The connector body is made of free-cutting steel. The surface is protected with zinc plating with white passivation, used in steel connection elements for power hydraulics.

The connector material should be selected according to the environment, medium, and operating conditions of the installation.

Working temperature from -20°C to +120°C

The product datasheet specifies the allowable working temperature from -20°C to +120°C. The specified medium is hydraulic oil.

However, the temperature range of the complete system may be limited by hoses, seals, valves, or other components used.

Standard BS5200 / ISO 8434-6

The connector is assigned to the standard BS5200 / ISO 8434-6. This information helps with the correct identification of the connection system and selection of mating elements.

When replacing an old connector, it is worth comparing the thread, its diameter, pitch, sealing method, allowable pressure, and material.

Application of the straight BSP 1/8" connector

The BSP 1/8" nipple can be used to make simple connections between compatible components of a hydraulic installation.

  • power hydraulic systems,
  • agricultural and orchard machinery,
  • forestry machinery,
  • construction machinery,
  • industrial equipment,
  • hydraulic units and assemblies,
  • repairs and modernizations of hydraulic installations.

Catalog markings BSP 1/8"

When searching for an equivalent, the markings assigned to this variant may be helpful:

  • Rastelli-Raccordi: 34.69.02.02,
  • Vitillo: ANGG0202,
  • symbol: 1B-02,
  • alternative marking: XG 1/8".

Before using a replacement, compare its full technical parameters, not just the catalog symbol.

Sealing washer for G1/8" port

If the connector is to be used in a connection whose design provides for a face seal under the hexagon, an appropriate sealing element should be selected. The HYDRON offer includes bonded seal (metal-rubber washer) G1/8" 10.37 × 15.88 × 2 mm.

However, this sealing method should not be used automatically in every BSP connection. The design of the port and the mating surface must be suitable for it.

Selection of a hose fitting with a BSP 1/8" thread

If the connector is to work with a hydraulic hose, you must select not only the thread size but also the DN hose diameter, hose construction, pressure, and fitting type.

An example of an element with a compatible port size is DKR DN06 fitting with 1/8" female thread. Before use, you must of course confirm the compatibility of the entire connection, including sealing surfaces.

You can also select a complete hose in the HYDRON hydraulic hose configurator.

Frequently Asked Questions

What threads does the BSP 1/8" connector have?

The connector has two identical BSP 1/8" male threads, which is why it is a straight connector, not a reducing one.

What is the maximum working pressure?

The maximum working pressure specified for this variant is 350 bar.

How to recognize a BSP 1/8" thread?

A BSP 1/8" male thread is approximately 9.3-9.7 mm in diameter. For certain identification, you should also check the thread pitch.

Does the connector have a sealing cone?

Yes. The connector has a 60° sealing cone, so the mating element should have compatible connection geometry.

What material is the connector made of?

The connector is made of free-cutting steel protected by zinc plating with white passivation.
