Description
Straight reducing connector BB BSP 3/4" / 1" stainless steel 1.4571
Straight connector BB BSP 3/4" / 1" is a stainless hydraulic fitting designed to make a straight transition between two different connection sizes. On one side it has a male BSP 3/4" thread, and on the other a male BSP 1" thread. Thanks to this, one body allows for the connection of system components without adding further reductions and adapters.
The connector is made of stainless steel 1.4571. It is intended for hydraulic applications where, in addition to proper thread fitting, the material's resistance to corrosion is important. The design utilizes a 60° sealing cone, and the working pressure specified for this model is 200 bar.
Technical parameters of the BB BSP 3/4" / 1" connector
- product type: straight BB hydraulic connector,
- type: reducing connector,
- thread 1: male BSP 3/4",
- thread 2: male BSP 1",
- 3/4" BSP thread diameter: 26.1-26.4 mm outer / 24.1-24.5 mm inner,
- 1" BSP thread diameter: 33.0-33.2 mm outer / 30.3-30.8 mm inner,
- sealing system: 60° cone,
- working pressure: 200 bar,
- working temperature: from -20°C to +120°C,
- material: stainless steel 1.4571,
- medium indicated for the product: hydraulic oil,
- purpose: connecting hydraulic components with different BSP connection sizes.
Reduction from BSP 3/4" to BSP 1"
The model features two different thread sizes, therefore it functions as a straight reducing connector. The BSP 3/4" side can be connected to a properly selected 3/4" internal connection, while the other end of the body works with a BSP 1" connection.
Such a solution is useful when building new installations and modernizing existing systems. If a new hose, valve, distributor, or other component has a larger connection than the element present in the machine, the reduction can be achieved using a single compact body.
Two male BSP threads
Both ends of the connector have male BSP threads. However, they differ in nominal diameter. The first is 3/4" in size, and the second is 1".
When selecting, it is worth remembering that BSP inch designations do not directly correspond to the actual diameter measured with a caliper. For this connector, the HYDRON datasheet specifies:
- BSP 3/4" – approximately 26.1-26.4 mm outer diameter,
- BSP 1" – approximately 33.0-33.2 mm outer diameter.
Measuring the diameter is helpful when identifying an unmarked connection, but the thread standard and sealing method should also be checked.
60° sealing cone
The connector has a 60° sealing cone. This means that when selecting matching components, it is not enough to check only whether the thread size is 3/4" or 1".
In hydraulics, the compatibility of the entire connection system is vital. The thread is responsible for the mechanical tightening of the components, while properly selected sealing surfaces are crucial for connection tightness under pressure.
Stainless steel 1.4571
The technical datasheet of the product specifies the body material as stainless steel 1.4571. Compared to standard free-cutting steel connectors protected by galvanization, the stainless version is intended for applications where increased material resistance to corrosion is essential.
Such a solution is particularly interesting in installations exposed to moisture, varying environmental conditions, and in selected industrial applications. However, the suitability of the material for a specific medium should always be decided based on the operating conditions of the entire installation.
Working pressure 200 bar
The allowable working pressure specified for this model is 200 bar. This is an important parameter when selecting a connector for a specific system and must not be exceeded.
It should also be remembered that the allowable pressure of a complete installation depends on all components used. The parameters of connectors, valves, fittings, and crimped hydraulic hosesshould be checked. The final allowable pressure of the system is determined by its weakest element.
Operating temperature from -20°C to +120°C
The temperature range specified for the product is from -20°C to +120°C. Hydraulic oil is indicated as the medium on the datasheet.
However, the operating temperature of the complete installation should be considered together with the parameters of the hoses, seals, fittings, and the medium itself. Each of these elements may have its own temperature limitations.
Where is the BSP 3/4" / 1" connector used?
The stainless reducing connector can be used during the construction, repair, and reconstruction of hydraulic installations where a transition between two BSP sizes is required.
- power hydraulic systems,
- industrial machinery,
- agricultural and orchard machinery,
- forestry machinery,
- construction equipment,
- installations operating in conditions of increased humidity,
- modernizations of hydraulic systems,
- connections requiring a transition from BSP 3/4" to BSP 1".
One body instead of several adapters
Direct 3/4" / 1" reduction allows for the reduction of the number of components needed to connect two different connection sizes. This is particularly practical in machines where assembly space is limited.
A smaller number of additional adapters also means fewer threaded connections requiring assembly and proper sealing. For this reason, if a connector with the exact required configuration is available, it is worth using a direct transition between sizes.
How to correctly select a connector?
Before purchasing, the full configuration of the connections should be checked. In the case of this model, they are:
- first side: male BSP 3/4",
- second side: male BSP 1",
- sealing cone: 60°,
- body material: stainless steel 1.4571,
- working pressure: maximum 200 bar,
- working temperature: from -20°C to +120°C.
If you are unsure about the thread size, the caliper measurement should be supplemented by checking the pitch and the geometry of the sealing surface.
Stainless hydraulic connectors at HYDRON
At HYDRON, hydraulic connectors are available in many sizes and connection standards. The range includes both bodies with identical threads and reducing connectors designed for connecting different diameters.
If you are assembling a hose for a specific machine or device, you can also use the HYDRON hydraulic hose configurator. It allows you to select the length of the hose and its fittings for the required installation.
In places exposed to abrasion and contact of the hose with the machine structure, it is worth additionally using spiral guards for hydraulic hoses.
Frequently Asked Questions
What threads does the connector have?
The connector has two male BSP threads: 3/4" on one side and 1" on the other.
Is it a reducing connector?
Yes. Different thread sizes allow for a direct transition between BSP 3/4" and BSP 1".
What is the working pressure?
The HYDRON product datasheet specifies a working pressure of 200 bar.
What material is the connector made of?
In the technical parameters of the product, the material is specified as stainless steel 1.4571.
What is the operating temperature range?
The range specified for the product is from -20°C to +120°C.
What sealing cone does the connector have?
The connector utilizes a 60° sealing cone.
What diameter does the BSP 1" thread have?
The 1" designation is a nominal size. The HYDRON datasheet specifies an outer diameter of approximately 33.0-33.2 mm for this thread.
Can BSP 3/4" be connected directly to BSP 1"?
These are not the same thread sizes. The described connector serves exactly as an adapter between these two sizes.
