Description
Straight reduction connector MM BSP 3/4" / 1.1/4" 160 bar
Straight connector MM BSP 3/4" / 1.1/4" is a steel hydraulic fitting equipped with two different BSP male threads. On one side there is a 3/4" BSP thread, and on the other a larger 1.1/4" BSP thread. The reduction design allows for a direct connection of elements with different port sizes without using several additional adapters.
The connector has 60° sealing cone. The body is made of free-cutting steel protected by zinc plating with white passivation. The maximum working pressure is 160 bar, and the operating temperature range is from -20°C to +120°C.

BSP 3/4" to BSP 1.1/4" reduction
Different diameters of both ports mean that the product functions as a BSP 3/4" / 1.1/4" reduction. Both threads are male, so the connector allows for joining two compatible elements with corresponding female threads.
Using a single reduction connector shortens the entire connection and limits the number of additional adapters. Other size configurations are available in the category BSP straight and reduction connectors.
How to identify a 3/4" BSP thread?
A 3/4" BSP male thread has a diameter of approximately 26.1-26.4 mm. The 3/4" designation is a nominal value, so the actual thread diameter is not 19.05 mm.
A caliper measurement around 26.3 mm is an important clue in identifying 3/4" BSP. For a certain selection, you should also check the thread pitch and the design of the sealing surface.
How to identify a 1.1/4" BSP thread?
The larger side of the connector has a 1.1/4" BSP male thread with a diameter of approximately 41.5-41.9 mm. Also in this case, the inch designation is nominal.
Direct conversion of 1.1/4 inches gives 31.75 mm, which is significantly lower than the actual diameter of a 1.1/4" BSP thread. When identifying, it is therefore worth using a caliper measurement and a thread gauge.
60° sealing cone
The connector has a 60° sealing cone. When selecting mating elements, you must check not only the BSP thread size, but also the compatibility of the surfaces responsible for the tightness of the connection.
Simply screwing two elements together mechanically does not mean full compatibility. The thread and the geometry of the sealing surfaces should correspond to the used connection system.
Working pressure 160 bar
The maximum working pressure of this reduction is 160 bar. This parameter should be compared with the actual operating and maximum pressure occurring in the system.
The thread size does not automatically determine the allowable pressure. Individual variants of BSP connectors can have different ratings, so you should always check the specification of the specific product.
The allowable pressure of the entire system is limited by its weakest element. When assembling the system, it is also worth verifying hydraulic hoses, fittings, valves, quick couplers, and other fittings.
Reduction from BSP 1.1/4" to 3/4" and flow
Transitioning from 1.1/4" BSP to 3/4" BSP means a clear reduction in the connection's cross-section. When selecting a reduction, one must therefore consider not only thread compatibility, but also the required medium flow and the diameter of the mating hoses.
Too small a cross-section relative to the required flow can cause an increase in oil velocity and additional pressure losses. For this reason, the reduction should be selected in relation to the parameters of the entire system.
Free-cutting steel and zinc plating with white passivation
The connector body is made of free-cutting steel. The surface is protected with zinc plating with white passivation, used in steel fasteners intended for standard power hydraulics systems.
If working conditions require a different material, also check stainless steel hydraulic fittings.
Operating temperature from -20°C to +120°C
The allowable operating temperature range is from -20°C to +120°C. Hydraulic oil is indicated as the working medium on the product data sheet.
When determining the allowable parameters of the entire system, the limitations of hoses, seals, valves, and other components must also be taken into account.
BS5200 / ISO 8434-6 standard
The connector belongs to the group of BSP connections made according to BS5200 / ISO 8434-6. Information about the standard is important when identifying the element and selecting compatible parts.
When replacing an old connector, it is worth comparing both thread sizes, their actual diameter, pitch, and the design of the sealing surfaces.
Application of the 3/4" / 1.1/4" BSP reduction
The connector can be used wherever a direct transition between a 3/4" BSP and 1.1/4" BSP port is necessary. It works well for building new systems as well as during repairs and modernizations of existing hydraulic systems.
- power hydraulics systems,
- hydraulic power units,
- agricultural and orchard machinery,
- forestry machinery,
- construction machinery,
- industrial equipment,
- oil systems,
- repairs and modernizations of hydraulic systems.
Interchangeable markings for the connector
The following catalog markings may be helpful when searching for an equivalent:
- Rastelli-Raccordi: 34.67.20.12,
- Vitillo: ARGG2012,
- symbol: 1B-12-20,
- alternative marking: XGR 3/4"-1 1/4".
Before using a replacement, the full technical specification should be compared, not just the catalog marking.
How to correctly select a 3/4" / 1.1/4" BSP connector?
Before ordering, confirm the most important parameters of the connection:
- side 1: 3/4" BSP male thread,
- side 2: 1.1/4" BSP male thread,
- 3/4" BSP external diameter: approximately 26.1-26.4 mm,
- 1.1/4" BSP external diameter: approximately 41.5-41.9 mm,
- sealing cone: 60°,
- maximum working pressure: 160 bar,
- operating temperature: from -20°C to +120°C,
- material: free-cutting steel,
- protection: zinc plating with white passivation.
If the connector is selected based on an element removed from a machine, measure both threads with a caliper and check their pitch. This reduces the risk of confusing BSP with another inch thread standard.
Selecting a complete hydraulic hose
Port size alone is not enough to correctly make a hose. You must also select the internal diameter of the hose, its construction, required working pressure, length, and appropriate ends.
To prepare the appropriate configuration, you can use the HYDRON hydraulic hose configurator.
