Description
Straight reducing connector MM BSP 3/8" / 3/4" 250 bar
Straight connector MM BSP 3/8" / 3/4" is a steel hydraulic fitting equipped with two different external BSP threads. On one side there is a BSP 3/8" connection, and on the other a larger BSP 3/4". The reducing design allows for a direct connection of components of different sizes without using several consecutive adapters.
The connector has a 60° sealing cone. The body is made of free-cutting steel protected by zinc plating with white passivation. The maximum working pressure is 250 bar, and the operating temperature range is from -20°C to +120°C.

BSP 3/8" to BSP 3/4" reduction
The connector allows for a direct transition between BSP 3/8" and BSP 3/4". Both connections are external threads, so the product can work with properly selected elements having internal threads.
Using a single reduction allows for shortening the connection and limiting the number of additional adapters. Other diameter configurations are available in the category BSP straight and reducing connectors.
How to identify a BSP 3/8" thread?
An external BSP 3/8" thread has a diameter of approximately 16,3-16,6 mm. The 3/8" designation is a nominal value, so the actual thread diameter is not 9,525 mm.
Measurement with a caliper around 16,5 mm is an important clue during identification. For a certain selection, the thread pitch and the design of the sealing surface should also be checked.
How to identify a BSP 3/4" thread?
The larger side of the reduction has an external BSP 3/4" thread with a diameter of approximately 26,1-26,4 mm. Here too, the 3/4" value is a nominal designation and does not correspond directly to 19,05 mm.
A measurement of approximately 26,3 mm may indicate BSP 3/4". However, when identifying, it is also worth checking the thread pitch.
60° sealing cone
The connector has a 60° sealing cone. When selecting a matching element, you should therefore verify not only the BSP thread size but also the compatibility of the surfaces responsible for sealing.
Mechanical tightening of two parts alone does not confirm a correct hydraulic connection. The thread and the geometry of the sealing surfaces should be compatible with each other.
Working pressure 250 bar
The maximum working pressure of this reduction is 250 bar. This parameter should be compared with the actual working pressure and the maximum occurring in the system.
The permissible pressure of the entire system is limited by the component with the lowest parameters. In addition to the connector, hoses, fittings, valves, quick couplings, and other fittings should be checked.
If you are completing the entire connection, also check crimped hydraulic hoses.
Reduction 3/4" to 3/8" and oil flow
Transitioning from BSP 3/4" to BSP 3/8" means a clear reduction in the cross-section of the connection. Therefore, thread compatibility should not be the only selection criterion.
The required medium flow and hose diameter should also be taken into account. A cross-section that is too small relative to the required flow can increase oil velocity and cause additional pressure losses.
Free-cutting steel and zinc plating with white passivation
The connector body is made of free-cutting steel. The surface is protected with zinc plating with white passivation, used in steel fasteners intended for standard power hydraulic systems.
The connector material should always be matched to the environment and working conditions of the specific installation.
Operating temperature from -20°C to +120°C
The permissible operating temperature range is from -20°C to +120°C. As the working medium, the product data sheet indicates hydraulic oil.
When determining the parameters of the entire system, limitations of hoses, seals, valves, and other installation components should also be taken into account.
Standard BS5200 / ISO 8434-6
The connector belongs to the group of BSP connections made according to BS5200 / ISO 8434-6. Standard information helps during part identification and selection of matching elements.
When replacing an old connector, it is worth comparing both thread sizes, their actual diameter, pitch, and the design of the sealing surfaces.
Application of the BSP 3/8" / 3/4" reduction
The connector can be used wherever it is necessary to transition between a BSP 3/8" and BSP 3/4" connection. It is used during the construction of new systems and during the service and modernization of existing hydraulic installations.
- power hydraulic systems,
- agricultural and orchard machinery,
- forestry machinery,
- construction machinery,
- industrial equipment,
- oil installations,
- repairs and modernizations of hydraulic installations.
Interchangeable connector designations
Catalog designations assigned to this variant may be helpful in identifying an equivalent:
- Rastelli-Raccordi: 34.67.12.06,
- Vitillo: ARGG1206,
- symbol: 1B-06-12,
- alternative designation: XGR 3/8"-3/4".
Before using an equivalent, always compare the full technical specification, not just the catalog designation.
How to correctly select a BSP 3/8" / 3/4" reduction?
Before ordering, basic parameters should be confirmed:
- side 1: external BSP 3/8" thread,
- side 2: external BSP 3/4" thread,
- BSP 3/8" external diameter: approximately 16,3-16,6 mm,
- BSP 3/4" external diameter: approximately 26,1-26,4 mm,
- sealing cone: 60°,
- maximum working pressure: 250 bar,
- operating temperature: from -20°C to +120°C,
- material: free-cutting steel,
- protection: zinc plating with white passivation.
If you are selecting a connector based on a part removed from a machine, measure both threads with a caliper and check their pitch. This limits the risk of confusing BSP with another inch thread standard.
Selection of a complete hydraulic hose
Thread size alone is not enough to correctly make a hose. The internal diameter of the hose, its construction, required working pressure, length, and proper terminations must also be selected.
To prepare the appropriate configuration, you can use the HYDRON hydraulic hose configurator.
Frequently Asked Questions
What threads does the connector have?
