Description
Straight reduction connector MM BSP 5/8" / 3/4" 250 bar
Straight connector MM BSP 5/8" / 3/4" is a steel hydraulic connector with two male BSP threads of different sizes. On one side there is BSP 5/8", and on the other BSP 3/4". The design allows for a direct transition between these diameters without using several subsequent adapters.
The connector has a 60° sealing cone. The body is made of free-cutting steel protected by zinc plating with white passivation. The maximum working pressure is 250 bar, and the operating temperature range is from -20°C to +120°C.

Reduction BSP 5/8" to BSP 3/4"
The connector allows for a simple transition between BSP 5/8" and BSP 3/4". Both connections are male threads, so the product can connect two compatible elements equipped with appropriate female threads.
The difference between sizes is not large, but the connector still acts as a reduction. BSP 5/8" has an outer diameter of approximately 22,6-22,9 mm, while BSP 3/4" is approximately 26,1-26,4 mm.
Other size combinations can be found in the category BSP straight and reduction connectors.
How to recognize a BSP 5/8" thread?
The male BSP 5/8" thread in this product has a diameter of approximately 22,6-22,9 mm. The 5/8" designation is a nominal value, so do not expect a diameter of 15,88 mm resulting from direct inch conversion.
BSP 5/8" is encountered less frequently than 1/2" or 3/4", so when identifying an old connector, it is worth carefully measuring the thread with a caliper and additionally checking its pitch.
How to recognize a BSP 3/4" thread?
The other side of the connector has a male BSP 3/4" thread with a diameter of approximately 26,1-26,4 mm. Here too, the 3/4" value is a nominal designation, not the actual outer diameter of the thread.
A measurement around 26,3 mm is therefore an important clue when identifying BSP 3/4". For a certain selection, however, the pitch and connection design should also be confirmed.
60° sealing cone
The connector has a 60° sealing cone. This means that when selecting mating components, you should check not only the diameter and type of BSP thread, but also the geometry of the surfaces responsible for sealing.
This is especially important in hydraulics operating under pressure. Simply screwing two components together does not mean they form a correct and tight connection.
250 bar working pressure
The maximum working pressure of the presented reduction is 250 bar. This value should be compared with the actual operating and maximum pressure occurring in the installation.
The parameters of the entire system are limited by its weakest component. When assembling the installation, you should therefore also check the hoses, fittings, quick couplers, valves, and other equipment.
Ready-made solutions can be found in the category assembled hydraulic hoses.
Reduction 5/8" to 3/4" and flow
Changing from BSP 3/4" to BSP 5/8" means reducing the connection cross-section. When selecting a reduction, the required medium flow and hose diameter should therefore be taken into account.
In an installation with high flow, an incorrectly selected cross-section can increase the flow velocity and pressure losses. Thread compatibility alone should therefore not be the only selection criterion.
Free-cutting steel protected by zinc plating
The connector body is made of free-cutting steel. The surface is protected by zinc plating with white passivation. This design is used in steel fasteners intended for standard power hydraulic systems.
When used in an environment with increased corrosion requirements, a material suitable for the working conditions and medium should be selected.
Operating temperature from -20°C to +120°C
The permissible operating temperature range of the connector is from -20°C to +120°C. Hydraulic oil is indicated as the medium in the product description.
The temperature parameters of the complete system should also be determined taking into account hoses, seals, valves, and other system components.
Where is the BSP 5/8" / 3/4" reduction used?
The connector can be used wherever two hydraulic components with different BSP 5/8" and BSP 3/4" connections need to be joined. It works well both during the construction of new installations and during repairs and modernization of existing machines.
- power hydraulic systems,
- agricultural and orchard machinery,
- forestry machinery,
- construction machinery,
- industrial equipment,
- oil installations,
- repairs and modernizations of hydraulic systems.
Interchangeable connector designations
When searching for an equivalent, the catalog designations given for this variant may be helpful:
- Rastelli-Raccordi: 34.67.12.10,
- Vitillo: ARGG1210,
- symbol: 1B-10-12,
- alternative designation: XGR 5/8"-3/4".
Before using a replacement, you should compare the full technical parameters, not just the catalog symbol.
How to correctly select a BSP 5/8" / 3/4" connector?
Before ordering, confirm the most important features of the connection:
- side 1: male BSP 5/8" thread,
- side 2: male BSP 3/4" thread,
- BSP 5/8" outer diameter: approximately 22,6-22,9 mm,
- BSP 3/4" outer diameter: approximately 26,1-26,4 mm,
- sealing cone: 60°,
- maximum working pressure: 250 bar,
- operating temperature: from -20°C to +120°C.
If you are selecting a connector based on an old element, measure both threads with a caliper and check their pitch. Special attention should be paid to the 5/8" side, since this size occurs less frequently than the popular BSP 1/2" and BSP 3/4".
Selection of a complete hydraulic hose
The thread size alone is not enough to correctly make a hose. You must also select the internal diameter of the hose, its construction, the required working pressure, length, and appropriate ends.
To prepare the correct configuration, you can use the HYDRON hydraulic hose configurator.
Frequently Asked Questions
What threads does the connector have?
On one side there is a male BSP 5/8" thread, and on the other a male BSP 3/4" thread.
Is this a reduction connector?
Yes. The connector allows for a direct transition between BSP 5/8" and BSP 3/4".
What is the maximum working pressure?
The maximum working pressure given for the product is 250 bar.
How to recognize BSP 5/8" and BSP 3/4" threads?
The male BSP 5/8" thread is approximately 22,6-22,9 mm in diameter, while the BSP 3/4" is approximately 26,1-26,4 mm. For a certain selection, it is also worth checking the thread pitch.
What to look for when selecting this reduction?
Check both thread sizes, the 60° sealing cone, the required working pressure, and the flow required in the installation.
