Hydraulic hoses 1SN - single-braid EN 853

Hydraulic hoses 1SN, DIN EN853-1SN

Premium 1SN Hose

Premium 1SN Hose

Hoses with one steel braid 1SN

One of the most popular categories of hydraulic hoses. 1SN (single-braid) hydraulic hoses can be used not only for transferring all types of hydraulic oils/fluids but also for transferring air or other media. The resistance of the hoses can be found in the chemical resistance table of hoses under the NBR column (the NBR rubber from which the hose is made). If you are looking for hoses with a higher operating and burst pressure, we encourage you to familiarize yourself with 2SN double-braid hoses. Characteristic features of 1SN hoses: Hoses manufactured in accordance with the standards: DIN EN 853 1SN / TS 6387 EN 853 1SN, SAE 100 R1 AT-R1 / ISO 1436: 2009, ISO 1307 / EN 1804-3, ISO 6805 / EN 13463-1.

Construction of single-braid hoses

The inner layer of the single-braid hose is made of black synthetic rubber (resistant to oils and water). The outer layer is made of black synthetic rubber (resistant to abrasion, oils, atmospheric conditions and ozone). 1SN hoses have a reinforcement of one high-strength steel wire braid. Hose operating temperature: from -40°C to +100°C Short-term up to +125°C. 1SN hydraulic hoses are intended for - hydraulic fluids in accordance with ISO 6743-4, with the exception of HFD R, HFD S, HFD T (from -40C to +100C), - aqueous solutions (from -40°C to +70°C), - water (from 0°C to +70°C), - compressed air (from 0°C to +80°C). The hoses are not intended for fluids containing castor oil and esters.

Application of hoses with one steel braid

Hoses with one steel braid are used in low-demand machines - machines with low operating pressure. 1SN hoses are primarily used in agriculture, bucket lifts, etc. - everywhere where relatively low operating pressures are used. The operating pressure range depends on the hose diameter and oscillates between 225 bar maximum and 40 bar (the smaller the hose size, the higher the operating pressure). These types of pressures occur mainly in all types of agricultural machinery (agriculture) and others. SAE 100R1AT hydraulic hoses are used in various industrial sectors, including: Mobile hydraulics – construction machinery, cranes, loaders, forklifts. Agricultural machinery – tractors, combines, sprayers. Heavy industry – hydraulic presses, production lines. Hydraulic systems in specialized vehicles – fire trucks, mining vehicles, cranes.

Hydraulic hoses compliant with the SAE 100R1AT standard

What is the SAE 100R1AT standard? SAE 100R1AT is a standard specifying technical requirements for single-braid hydraulic hoses with steel braid, used in power hydraulic systems. This standard was developed by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and is widely used in the hydraulic industry worldwide. Hoses compliant with this standard are designed to work under medium pressure and are widely used in hydraulic systems of agricultural, construction, industrial and transport machinery.

Construction of the SAE 100R1AT hose

A hydraulic hose meeting the SAE 100R1AT standard consists of three layers: Inner layer – made of oil-resistant synthetic rubber, ensuring tightness and chemical resistance to hydraulic fluids. Reinforcement – one layer of steel braid, providing the hose with resistance to high pressure and flexibility. Outer layer – resistant to abrasion, weather conditions and ozone, which increases the durability of the hose in difficult operating conditions.

Technical specification of the SAE 100R1AT standard: The standard specifies detailed parameters of hydraulic hoses, including: Operating pressure range: from 4.0 MPa (40 bar) to 22.5 MPa (225 bar) depending on the hose diameter. Operating temperature range: from -40°C to +100°C (for standard petroleum-based hydraulic oils). Nominal diameters: from 3/16” (DN 5) to 2” (DN 50). Minimum bending radius: specified depending on the diameter, ensuring flexibility and resistance to bending. Construction: one layer of steel braid (which distinguishes it from SAE 100R2AT, which has two layers of braid).

EN 853 1SN hydraulic hoses, the standard for hydraulic hoses

The EN 853 standard specifies requirements for hydraulic hoses with a steel braid reinforced construction, used in power hydraulic systems. It is a European standard that defines technical, strength and performance parameters for hoses operating under high pressure. Scope of the EN 853 standard: This standard covers hydraulic hoses with one or two layers of steel braid, used in hydraulic systems for the transfer of hydraulic oil and other media. Hoses meeting the requirements of this standard are commonly used in industrial, construction, agricultural machinery and specialized vehicles. Where are EN 853 compliant hoses used? Hydraulic hoses meeting the EN 853 standard are widely used in:  1) Hydraulic systems of agricultural and construction machinery, 2) Industrial installations requiring high pressure, 3) Hydraulic systems of specialized vehicles, 4) Machines used in transport and logistics.

Classification of hoses according to the EN 853 standard

The EN 853 standard divides hydraulic hoses into two main classes: EN 853 1SN – a hose with one steel braid, designed for medium and high operating pressures, EN 853 2SN – a hose with two steel braids, providing higher resistance to pressure and intensive use.

Most important requirements of the EN 853 1SN standard

Hoses compliant with EN 853 must meet rigorous standards regarding: ✔ Operating and test pressure – specified pressure values that the hose must withstand without risk of damage, ✔ Bending radius – the minimum value at which the hose maintains full flow and flexibility, ✔ Temperature resistance – hoses must withstand a wide range of temperatures, usually from -40°C to +100°C, ✔ Mechanical strength – resistance to abrasion, bending and the action of hydraulic oils.

Why is it worth choosing hoses compliant with EN 853?

By choosing hydraulic hoses compliant with the EN 853 standard, you can be sure that you are using proven and durable solutions, adapted to demanding working conditions. ✔ Quality and safety guarantee – compliance with the standard means that the hoses have passed rigorous tests and meet European standards, ✔ Long service life – durable construction ensures resistance to extreme working conditions, ✔ Wide range of applications – suitable for many industries, including construction, agriculture and heavy industry.

Hydraulic hoses without silicone content (LABS-free / PWIS-free)

At HYDRON we also offer hydraulic hoses and industrial lines available with a LABS-free / PWIS-free (Silicone-Free) statement. This solution is intended for industries where even trace amounts of silicone can negatively affect painting processes and coating quality. If you want to find out what the LABS-free standard is, when it is required and how to order lines with appropriate documentation.
